Hey guys just wondering a few things like: What is the service schedule of an SR20DET? I mean I know that they are great engines, but sooner or later they will need service. I'm assuming it's pretty much the same change the oil every 3-4000 miles but beyond that what's the deal? When do I need to change transmission fluid, etc etc. Oh and I did a search and it yeilded nothing Thanks Chris

Same as all basic nissan motors/trannies. It also depends on how you drive.

Aite then my next question is, so i have any chice other than to do the service myself, which if the awnser is yes, could prove to be a little of a problem. I'm assuming I can't walk into a dealership and say "Hey this is a car with an engine it's not supposed to have, give it it's 60,000 mile serivce" Can I take it to places to have generic services, i.e transmission flush, changing belts, etc? Although I guess I could do that myself, just not sure how to flush the transmission. Thanks alot Chris

heh, you dont know how to drain/flush a transmission? if it doesn't have a plug (look for one fo these first), you just losen the pan all around the edges with something large to catch all the fluids. most likely, you will have the 5speed so you dont have to worry about taking the whole pan off to change a filter (only auto's have it). tighten the pan/plug back up and refill the transmission halfway with gear oil. as for generic services, yes you can get many people to do so. just buy them the parts so they dont have to. they might end up buying the wrong parts. its way better off to do it yourself or go to a performance shop that is willing to do this kind of stuff.
