Can someone give me the scoop on the iPod interface for the G35/G37? I think I read they didn't have it built-in until 08? Does the car need to have an option to use (such as Nav or Premium Package) it or is it standard? It shows the playlists and such on the screen doesn't it? Does it work with 3G/3GS iphones?

I'm about ready to pick up a used G35/37. Thanks much!

I can tell you that my 09 G37S sedan came with one...don't have an iPhone so I'm not sure how well it works.

Well after further reading I see that it only charges the older iPods that would charge through firewire. The newer iPods and 3G iPhones only charge via USB connections and the Infiniti interface is firewire. There is an adpater that you can use to rectify it but sometimes the iPod loses its connection and you have to replug it in. The best solution seems to be to pick up and older iPod on Ebay and just leave it in the car. In my current car, I plug my 3Gs iPhone in and it charges the phone and I can play music. This works well as I don't have to worry about the phone needing to be charged separately. If the adapter is cheap I'll probably give it a try first so I can simplify. Of course if I just get an older iPod then I don't have to keep taking it in and out of the car and I don't have to plug the iPhone into anything (just use the bluetooth) but I'll have to either plug the iPhone into the lighter or remember to charge it at my desk. Decisions decisions.

I'm still not clear if the Premium package with the upgraded Bose stereo is required to get the iPod interface and if it was available in the 07 G35 in addition to the 08?

my 2010 G has a USB port for ipod/usb drive support... havent used it yet... but it suppose to be able to show album art and is pretty full featured...

i own a motorola droid and im able to play pandora\slacker radio over bluetooth. (basically all audio from the phone) So if the 09 has that feature try just using bluetooth from your iphone and you never have to worry about connecting wires...

I have an '08 G37S with Nav and the iPod/iPhone connection. It works great with my iPod Classic (new iPod, old style). As someone else said, it will charge my iPod Classic, but it will not charge my iPhone. You are correct that the artists/songs/etc appear on the Nav screen. It's pretty cool, but they need to work on the interface. It takes forever to scroll down to an artist on the tail end of the alphabet. Since the vehicle has a touchscreen, they should have put the alphabet on the side of the screen so that you could hit "R" and then only have to scroll through the R's instead of scrolling through all the A through R's.
This rambling message is now concluded.

You need to have the premium package only to get the i-pod interface. You do not have to have NAV. I know this is the case in 08 and newer models. I also believe it is the case in 07 but I am not positive. It works great with a first generation i-pod touch and some of the older models as you have discovered. Scosche and Griffin sell adapters for the newer models. I have an i-phone 3GS and bought the Scosche adapter. I keep the phone in my console and it is a tight fit but works great without disconnecting in my coupe. I love it because I can carry my phone and music around in one simple package and just plug one thing in and keep it charged while jamming to the tunes and having my phone ready to use.
