Post

Hi guys,

I am pretty new here. It is also my first time owning a Nissan vehicle. My family has been a fan of Honda/Toyota for a long time. I am the first time to break the rule because how I like the Rogue vs CRV and RAV4.

Anyway, does anyone know what is the story behind the meaning of the name "Rogue"? Why did Nissan name this SUV with such name? When was the first Nissan Rogue?

Thanks,
RoGoLa

Nissan has not used a 'Rogue' model name prior to the current 2008-2011 model. The Rogue started life at Nissan's UK design studio. Originally sold as the Qashqai in the Europe and Dualis in Asia (Qashqai is a nomadic tribe native to the middle east), it was re-styled by Nissan North America and sold here as the Rogue... presumably Rogue is far easier to pronounce? Here is Nissan's description:
”The Rogue name was chosen to reflect its independence-oriented positioning, though we certainly believe that all buyers, regardless of age or life stage, will positively respond to Rogue’s fun-to-drive, all-climate performance and aggressive styling.”
