How much boost can the stock sr20det internals, and computer handle before you need to upgrade them. And how many Horsepower you get with 14psi.

Thanks...

Definetly search, also it depends on wich sr you have. They don't all share the same turbo and etc.

ive herd that the T25s used on the SR20s can only handle 15psi.

of course with that much boost you will have tons of torque but that poor T25 is gonna be sucking it big time at high RPM

yea a stock t25 might be able to handle 15 psi. Although i always hear 14 psi is max, but what about the stock sidemount. Unless you are putting in a fmic you will probably only want to boost 10psi-12psi and 12 is pushing it.

12 psi on a redtop-blacktop s13sr20det motor should put you around 250 rwhp. My friend has a mostly stock s13 with an s13sr20det blacktop motor. At 12psi he runs mid 13's.Mods areCheap CP Intake(pos)Apexi N1(3 inch model for sr)Profec bDownpipe(blitz i believe)Walbro 255 fuel pump

prob more like 235..i run 12's on the t25, and i dont have over 250whp.....

the stock t25 will boost to about 21 psi, before falling back off and settling around 17 or 18psi....max efficiencey for the stock t25 is 14psi, and after that effciency does fall off, as does life expectancy of the stock turbo....

my friend has an act street strip... Hooks up really nice, but hes new to turbo/rwd cars so doesn't know exactly how to launch it yet. He used to have a swapped 93 hatch.Id like to dyno his car and see what kind of hp he was actually putting down, but dyno sessions are pretty expensive. Ill dyno my car at 12 psi, when i get it done, and ill let you guys know what kind of hp figures i get.

I think he may also mean how much can the stock block handle without experiencing damage.

That question cannot be answered. It depends on the turbo, the fuel system, the cooling, the tuning, ect ect.

Be more specific.

bp2ooo,

where does your friend live? I'm here in IL also and have never seen a SR20 240 in my life. Would be cool to check it out.

OK. Sombody says 23psi. So here's a question: Can i safely run a turbo rated at 325 hp on a stock-internal SR20DET? HT sells a GP sports kit rated at 325hp. Do I have to upgrade my internals?

you 'can'...but most likely your going to blow a headgasket at some point, and damage may occur...most people wont go over 21 psi on the stock headgasket just for safety reasons.

another patron of the shop that did my motor swap ran between 30 & 40 psi on a stock (internals, clearly not fuel system) redtop

ok. thanks. so if i get a metal head gasket, ras valvesprings, injectors, and an ecu retune along with that turbo kit i should be ok, assuming my engine is healthy?

if u run about 325 at the wheels, i doubt you'll mess up your block...but i'd change the headgasket definitely. also, does that turbo kit come with a fuel setup?

No. It's just a bb turbo (no specs given) and tubular stainless manifold (stock replacement-bolt on turbo). I have a Tomei fuel pump on backorder. Claimed to be good to 500hp. I would add 550cc injectors, Z32 MAFS, Jim Wolf reprog. ECU, , metal headgasket (1.1-1.2mm), RAS, and valvesprings (neccessary or only with more aggressive cams?). I don't know how much boost this turbo needs to be at the top of its efficiency range (325hp), but I would probably want to run about 18-20 lbs. Is this realistic on stock pistons and rods? Oh BTW this is a daily driven car.

OK, Im a newb. But how much difference does a better head gasket do? Like how much more boost could I run if I just get the SR20DET swap and then change the head gasket?

I have upgraded the headgasket to a metal greddy head gasket, the valve springs to greddy springs, and intalled HKS RAS. If and when I do upgrade the turbo/injectors how much boost could I run without worrying (daily driver) Would like over 300HP but I am a daily driver so I usually drive economically.

i have heard if u beef up the headgasket to a metal around 1.2mm +....that you could boost about 20 psi..BUT I DUNNO. that is just something i heard a couple of times..not definite.

ok guyz

u CAn run a sr20 at 35psi if u want to but for safety reasons 14-15 psi is aboutit on the turbo and i think the stock block and handle 18-19 psi?????

i wouldnt boost to much cuz its not worth the extra hp to potentaly fawk ur engine up..

or i could just be smoking to much crack today and dont know what in talking about..
