hey guys well... heres another dumb question

i was wonder if you guys could guide me on what type of lowering spring/shock or coilovers to buy... with as little drop as possible with some ride comfort...i'll be getting body kit and rims soon so i really need a set of lowering springs/shock or coilovers... but the thought of getting my car smacked and slammed/ bumpy doesn't appeal to me very much...

thx

honestly, the first drop I ever had was on my first car. 93 240sx hatch with Eibach Sportlines which gave it a 2.5" drop. It rode very well and I thought was a decent drop. Look into the Eibach Pro kit though, it is supposed to be less of a drop, I think like 1.5" or so. Thats probably the smallest drop I know of.

spend the money and get coilovers so you can adjust them how you like

I would agree with both Timelss and Azrial. If your looking for a budget drop but a very mild drop go with what Timelss suggested, the Eibach Pro kit with some good shocks (KYB's or Tokico's are fine). Or if you would like more control of your ride height and you can afford it go with what Azrial said, coilovers. Either way you won't be sorry. Good luck!!

DONT get springs. I have some Eibach's and I hate them, Blowing shocks all the time. If i would have saved up my money from the start and waited a month and got some Stances like I wanted, I would have saved money. But now I still have these stupid springs, more blown shocks, and still having to pay for Stances.

Word to the wise, just get a good set of coil-overs. They are what you will want in the long run, and they are ride height adjustable. Everything you want, and no wasted money.

Best bang for the buck in your situation is RSR springs on your stock shocks. They drop the least and shocks won't blow easily.

usually how many XXX/miles would you say the shock are blown with lowering springs?

the Tien-H tech are pretty good with minimal amount of drop do i have to buy anything else beside the Tien-H tech in order to reduce bumpiness?

No complaints from me with Tanabe springs and Tokico shocks.

Just can't recommend Eibach Sportline springs, they were too low/soft on my old coupe, can only imagine how bad they'd be on a heavier Vert.

I run Eibach Sportline's and KYB's. I think the ride isn't too bad...not soft at all...but it is low, I scrap on everything. I bought new KYB's when I got my Sportline's and I've never had a problem blowing shocks...and I've had this set up for over a year and it's my daily driver. With that said I would like to upgrade to coilovers but I would rather put the money into a new set of wheels/tires or a paint job right now.

Running Tein S techs on KYB GR2s and I like it a lot. Looks and performance wise. High spring rates cause bumpiness; coils will have at least a 6kg rate (and cutting your springs, if you're that cheap)

I fear that once you drop a little (less than an inch) you won't like it and will want more drop.

those struts are just fine, but you might not even notice that drop. I have the S tech and recommend them.

Cheaper too.

And if you're worried about the ride, don't be, they ride great and I drive on some really bad roads.

Edit: You should get new strut boots too. Maybe even front mounts, don't worry about rear mounts; there isn't any rubber to deteriorate in them.

Edit x2: Some companies ship the GR2s and S techs as a combo because they go so well together.

Don't buy from their though; nothing wrong with enjuku besides that they jacked the price. When I bought this combo from them it was around 350.

it depends on the spring rates. If you get into double digits with those I would not wanna drive on the streets. A nice 5/7 would be fine by me, but I don't know if that exists. I think megan streets are 6/8.

the spring rates aren't even the biggest problem in most cases with coils, all you need is a setup that has properly matched dampening.

I ran kei office coil overs (and still do on other cars) with insane spring rates, which is how i personally liked it. i like my car to be a rock lol, it was still less annoyingly bouncy than a friend with megan streets..

knowing how to set them up is key in buying a set of coils.

my friend use to run tein flex on his s14, you could barely tell they were coils at all other than the significantly improved handling.

anyways just my thoughts.

also fyi there are plenty of coil over kits in a 6/5 combo, jic use to offer them like that, and that's how my friend had his tein flex setup also.
