What is the difference between a Cold air intake and a Short Ram Air intake? Which is better? And has anybody used the aem bypass valve, does it work, where do you put, and can you use it on any cold air intake system.

Short ram has the filter inside the engine compartment, cold air has the filter outside the engine compartment usually in the bumper or something like that.

bypass valve is good, only needed if your live in a real rainy area though.

really doesn't matter there isn't too much of a hp gain between the two. Also a bypass valve doesn't work if you decide to park in a puddle the size of a lake.

It's probably about even. Cold air is supposed to get you more power (because cold air is more dense than the hot air a short ram intake would pull in.) But you'll pay more for cold air.

yeah, everyone has it right so far. Cold air is farther away from the engine so its colder air (denser air) so more horsepower than the short ram intake of it being right next to the engine.
