Hey guys,

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer! I have a moderate rust spot below the rear door. Its not on the door itself but on the body of the car. Is there a way to remove it or maybe prevent it from getting worse?

Any advice would be appreciated,Andre.

If it is from the inside out, than metallurgy is required. From the topside and not far into the metal, Naval Jelly, bondo (ugh!) and a repaint may stave off perforation.

I've had rust on this same spot on two out of three of my own Q's (the ones from the north!) and I've rust in that spot on many other Q's. The rust is from the inside. Requires bodyshop quality work to deal with right. It cost me $300 in KC about 6 years ago to fix, and about $800 for the dealer to fix (car was still under warranty) Not sure how much it'll run you now.

I can make suggestions to slow it down, like put POR15 inside the panel through the holes where the plastic threshold clicks in.On exposed rust once the paint has broken (not just bubbled) use an eraser to clean up the area and then apply touch up paint. This only slows things down a little and makes them look better.

Either you do it right, or you do the minimum (my suggestions above). Anything else will accelerate the rust.
