Why?? Has anyone ever have done a comparison on MPG with there Rogue using dino oil verses Syn.?? Maybe on another car?? I am thinking about doing that but I need a good syn. to put in.. I have always heard that a good syn. can increase MPG. Is it really true?? I personallly don't know but would like to find out.

Going on a diet can also increase MPG. Maybe you should ask between a couple of diet plans. Just kidding.

I think some people have reported gains but I don't think it's that significant. Could just be them switching to synth after break in.

Amsoil is good. I personally use Castrol Syntec 0W30 (red label, made in Germany printed on back).

As for fuel economy gains, you might notice a slight increase... or none at all. Results will vary as there are so many other factors. I personally never saw any increase that I could attribute to synthetic oil alone.

A good resource for engine oil can be found at:

changing to synthetic is really just a waste of money. if you really have that much money burning a whole in your pocket I'm sure we have some ppl on the forum that wouldn't mind the kind donations.

synthetic oils only have a gains on high horsepower applications (over 300 hp). a good conventional oil is going to be just fine for your Rogue.

if you're looking for a MPG increase, try an exhaust system that'll get you around another 1-3 MPG increase and there's actual test that prove that, unfortunately these test are mostly on V8s and diesel trucks.

If you are looking for large fuel economy gains, then synthetics may disappoint.

However, synthetics provide better lubrication at temperature extremes, allow you to extend your oil change intervals, and can reduce engine wear.

The best "TRUE" fully synthetic oils is either Red Line, or Amzoil. (imho)
