What is the best rear end to install for 31" tires?

Does anyone know what the best fit or swap would be to replace the rear end for that of one with a lower gear ratio? I put 31" tires on my Hardbody and it threw the ratio WAY off. Does the 4x4 have a lower ratio? Is there another truck rear that will work? Please help any advice would be greatly appreciated.

what axle ratio do you have now? and yes 4wd axles will generally have a lower ratio.

I'm really not sure what the ratio is now. My HB is basic barebone style not even a xe or se, it's 2wd. The axle is a
"HF 35". Anyways first gear feels like 3rd.

There is a thread at the top of this forum that is permanatly stuck there because it has really good axle info. I'm guessing you have 3.50's, not sure the axle model (h233b, c200, etc...), but it will be in that thread for sure : )

You have the little H190 axle with 3.55 gears.

As stated the axle thread sticky has all the info you need on swapping in a 4x4 axle.

for 31s, the 4.625:1 gears should work well.
