Is there a gas card that is better than the others? Maybe good discounts or rewards, free car washes or anything? I have 8.5% now on my Visa and I notice mostly everything on there is gas. Wondering if there is any benifit in getting another specificly for gas though.

I have the Shell mastercard through Citi bank and I receive a 5% discount when I buy Shell gas and a 1% Shell gas rebate on everything else. I only use Shell so it made sense for me.

Well, gas cards are going to be at least double that rate. Most I get in the mail claim 21.9% or thereabouts, which is fine if you pay it off, but I don't see any real benfits to it and it's just one more bill to pay.

I have heard some about the shell but over here we have more hess and 7-11s and race track. After shell ruining everyones gas tanks here a few months ago I am a little scared.

I have bp and exxon, only reason exxon is cool is because of speedpass but most of the stations dont even have it and its kinda shady, like if you lost your keys someone could snag all the free gas they could hangle. the bp card sucks ***, I'm still paying that **** off. made a mistake and took a much needed road trip when funds didn't allow it a year ago.

^ just pay in full... i think mine is like at 15% or something for my gas card

anyway, i use chevron because it comes with techron lol. but seriously, i use them because they sent me an offer with 10 cents off every gallon i spend. only worked for the initial 3 months or something, i saved like $10 or something haha. better than nothing.

also, while using chevron those 3 months... i noticed my gas milage went up. before i used to use nothing but 76... i use nothing but chevron now

I try and use race trac cause they always have gas like 5 cent cheaper than anywhere else, but there are only a few of them around. the nice thing about the bp card is that its good damn near everywhere, there are bp/amoco stations everywhere.

^ Agreed.

Or, since you pay it off every month (financing fuel is STUPID), use Discover or another card that offers cash back...

Quik Trip = good fuel (and they might have a card).

yeah most of the gas cards off crappy benefits (if any) that don't last very long, and its hard to find ones with under 20% apr.

I'd agree with az on this one. Get yourself an airline miles card, or a hotel credit card where you can earn points towards plane tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars... And never put **** on there you can't pay off within 30 days. Its a bad idea. with 20% apr and you paying the minimum, 100 dollars worth of gas will take a year to pay off.

I'd go for a gas card if the discount on fuel was significant (10%) and there was a free food/drink deal.
