BG44k, BG44k, and BG44k.

In the last tank before your 90 day 3K mile oil change.

If you cant get BG44k a decent second choice is Chevron techron.

How important it is to use BG44k right before an oil change?

I think the "oil change" reference is more to create a routine of using 1 can every 90 days/3,000 miles.

I woudl much rather you use it right before you go on a LONG road trip rather than using it after every oil change.

On older, less well maintained and "looser" engines, it is recommended just before the oil change so any blow by contaminants in the crankcase are diminished.

Remember, BG44K is a powerful solvent! I do it on the last 1/4 tank. One of the few times I run it near empty.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Brian.. So you add BG when the gauge is at 1/4 tank, IE 1 line before empty???

That seems a bit low to me!!!

Higher concentration is more effective. Remember, all my Q45 are realtivley low mileage (<60K miles).__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

How about Redline Fuel injector cleaner? I have access to that stuff and was gonna run it in the 98 Q I bought yesterday.

I used Redline in my Q for three years until I learned about BG on this site. To me it is the best cleaner you can buy if you don't have access to BG and you're forced to shop at an Auto Zone or Pep Boys.

My first problem with clogged injectors was in a 1995 Cougar. Gumout fixed it quite quickly. Now I put a bottle into an empty tank about six times a year. Your car will jump out of the gym with Gumout.

If you buy good fuel (major brand with advertised cleanup performance) , you do not need any injector cleaner. As a general feel good, one bottle of Techron once a year is enough to keep injectors, intake valves and combustion chamber sparkling.

The powerful solvents found in 'fast clean-up' formulations are very hard on the fuel pump, flexible hoses, injector bodies, valve stem seals, engine seals and timing chain guides.

It ain't nice to beat the sh$! out of the various polymers (plastics) used in the fuel system and engine. Use those chemicals ONLY when indicated.
