Hi all, I just bought a beautiful 93 240sx :ylsuper , and am getting ready to do some serious work. In order to have a comprehensive guide for bolt torque specs and wire harness maps etc... I would like to buy a good service manual and I was hoping you all could offer some suggestions. In the past I have noticed a lacking quality among Haynes and Chilton and would like suggestions for any other publishers. I would be especially interested in knowing what manuals are used at Nissan dealerships. Thanks.

Yes get a factiry service manual. I can't remember if nissan still sells them. If you use the search I'm pretty sure you'll find some links in other threads.

i just got a factory service manual off of ebay. it was about 100 bucks shipped, but it's well worth every penny of it. Do yourself a favor, if you are going to be working on your car, you need a FACTORY manual, not chiltons or any of that crap. body work, electrical work, engine, suspension, brakes, it has everything. You won't be dissapointed :)

I've consulted the Chilton manual for the S13 and the factory FSM. The FSM is far superior to the Chilton in every way - specs, diagrams, pictures, important notes, etc. In addition, the FSM has detailed diagnosis logs written for all sorts of potential problems and logical steps to correct them. It's worth the money, buy one if you seriously want to DIY. I paid about $60 for mine off Ebay (it was a while ago).

here's a link from the 240sx.org FAQ...

http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/serviceman.htm

I got my manual by calling that phone number. It was a few years ago, so I don't know if it still works or not.

What you want is the Nissan 240sx 1993 "Service Manual". That's what it says on the cover, and its not to be confused with "maintenance" manuals and other lesser manuals that Nissan may also publish. Each year 240sx has its own service manual.

You'll enjoy having the genuine Nissan service manual. It will really de-mystify your car for you. Despite the high price, its a much better deal than that confusing Chiltons crap.

Dude, hold the presses. Send and e-mail to this lady ([email protected]) telling her you're interested in the FSM for a 93 240. For 20 bucks she'll send ya one on cd that has the FSM for each separate year between 93 and 98, plus the CA18 and SR20 cars. I just got one and it's real nice. The manuals are super legible. She also put's up on eBay, starting around 13 bucks. And they are the actual Nissan books.
