that pretty much sums it up...w/the exception that the "real" ones had either a ca or sr.

does it have to be a fastback 240 to be considered to be a sil-eighty. what if it was a coupe? no diference?

it has to be a fb if u want a sil-eighty. in japan, the 240 fb is called 180, to put a silvia conversion for a coupe, it will be called silvia (s13). in japan, the silvia (s13) have the same as the 240 coupe end or u can call it sil40 lol. in japan, i think they call the 240 coupe as onevia lol

you might want to take a note that the S13 refers both a coupe (ps13) and fastback (rps13). so to sum it up, your buddy already have a s13 to begin with, all he did was put on a silvia conversion.

"P" means SR20 btw people. If you have a stock 240, leave the "P" out of your cool jdm naminga. Just a PSA.

Now Nissan did release an "official" Sileighty, right? In super-limited numbers? I thought I read that somewhere, could be wrong. I realize that in general, it's a homebrew conversion arisen from the fact that Japanese drifters found it cheaper to buy Silvia fronts than 180 fronts when they had banged up their front ends drifting.

It was an actual dealership (forgot the name) that released the production sileighties. They had new badging, tweaks to their suspension and some minor motor differences to up horsepower a bit.

yes, i already know "p" stands for the sr20 motor, and of course i'm pretty sure someone will point it out (lazy as i am, i decide not to edit), but my point to the person is all i'm trying to do is knowledge this person of the s13 chasis.....

in japan .. if you crash your 180sx it is a lot cheaper to just put a s13 front on there rather than fixin the healight motors for the pop ups ..

so a lot of ppl in japan put the s13 front for that reason.

and yes they did produce REAL sileightys in japan .. but only limited numbers
