what is Nissan Consult and what can it do?

It is the diagnostic tool that Nissan/Infiniti technicians use to communicate with the ECU. In most cases it is capable of advancing timing, but it's mostly for diagnostic monitoring.

They are also not for sale that I know of. You could probably find a CONSULT 1 somewhere but it is real limited as to what you can do with it. CONSULT 2 has lots of capabitilies and CONLUST 3 is Panasonic Tuff Book laptop that you can use for p0rn

Any idea if the software for the Consult 3 is out there, or if the connector is for sale anywhere? I'd love to be able to do my own timing on the engine. I have a laptop I could spare to install the Consult software on.

The floor shop manual will sometimes give the mechanic the option of using Consult OR another method to repair an item. Usuallythe other method involves using the multimeter if it is anelectrical item.
