What is more practical on a 71 240z.

Which set up gives the biggest bang for your buck???and wont leave you in the broke house or on the street.

I was doing a l28et setup but have not finished it due to complications because I didnt get a donor car which I should have.

I was also looking at a rb25 set up which i would buy a complete clip

or build a V8 if so what is better something like an LS1 or something older and carbureted.

I know this has probably been asked a million times.

But i would like to know if im wasting my time on my l28 setup

thanks

L28ET si the best band for the buck, I initially bought my 240, plus a wrecked 280zx turbo, bought suspension and other odds and ends, had a total of $2k ont eh whole car, it ran a 13.010 in the quarter and autocrossed quite well

yes, you can get aroudn 230 whp with no intercooler, on all stock components, you can get about another 30 -50whp with an intercooler, but then you run out of turbo, injectors, headgasket, headstuds and ecu all at once

What is most practical? Probably the L24 in your Z currently. On engine swaps, the RB is the least practical, since it has the highest front end costs. The most practical depends on the cost of the L28. If you have $200, you have a running 350 SBC. Add in a few hundred for the mounts, and if that total is less than the cost of dropping the L28 in, then the V8 is the most practical since you have to run s*** for wiring since 9.9 out of 10 SBCs are carb'd. If more, the L28 is the more practical, but you will have to run wires.

V8 parts are inexpensive (forget the LS1 dude) and commonL24 and L28 parts seem to pretty much cost about the sameRB parts cost 2 paychecks plus one testicle

In the end, we'd need to know what you plan to do with the car before we could say what is best. For a daily driver I'd definitely leave the L24.
