OK I am a big Datsun guy, my son is looking for his first car and he wants a 300zx 2+2 (he wants the back seat because he has two cousins that he hangs out with all the time. I have not been able to check the car out in person, it is about 3.5 hours away.

1984 Nissan 300zx 2+2, Manual Trans, T-Tops, aftermarket seats. He said it has pretty new tires, it runs well, AC doesn't work, and it has a power steering leak. From the pictures, it has rust on the passenger rear quarter and the hood has been crumpled at some point.

It is owned by an older gentleman, he clearly loves the car. He listed it at $4500 and said he is willing to drop it to $4100.

I think the seller is asking WAY too much with the 2+2 being not as desirable to most buyers, and the rust and hood. It is a driving car. So what say the horde any suggestions? Am I just remembering the good old days of $2500 cars?

I'd say the seller has some sentimental value tax in his asking price. I'm not certain of the availability of these in your neck of the woods but they are still easy enough to find south of the Mason Dixon line with minimal or no rust for similar prices.

That is what I was leaning towards as well.
