I read on here before some say that using the crank out of an L28 and having it machined to fit would shorten the stroke on a KA block. I have 2 questions, 1 is this really a good idea (ie has anyone else done this or is this just theory) and 2 what exactly would the machine shop have to do to it once they got the crank in order for it work as is specified? I'm actually pretty curious about this since I understand the logic behind stroking an engine but to destroke an engine just seems weird. What kind of gains or losses would come from doing this kind of work and would you need to totally reconfigure your block, like all new rods or anythign? So if anyone else would like to clarify this whole ordeal and possibly set me on the correct path I'd much appreciate it. Im not saying I want to do this, just pondering what exact this whole destroking thing is all about.

Oh and mods please feel free to move this to a more appropriate forum.

The L28 is a inline 6, so that crank won't work. You will need a new crank and rods for a stroke or destroke. No idea which crank you'd use, possibly custom. There are a few decent companies that could do it for a semi good price.
