Okay i just took off the front passenger speaker and the plate. There is something inside the spkeaker plate. bunch of wires with a "L" shaped bored. the factory speaker was connected to it from there it connects to the bored then there is a other connection to the door.

The wires form the speaker are

Red and Grey

The wires from the borad to the door areblue black redbrowngreen.

What is it and do i need it. My car is a 91 Fastback w/ Active speaker sys.

It's the factory amp. You don't need it if you are running aftermarket speakers/head unit - in fact it may cause problems if you run aftermarket headunits.

In any case, you can basically cut all that crap out & only keep the pos/neg wires feeding into the amp.

Not that hard to figure out if you have a multimeter & you can even check the color code against the wires connected to the headunit.

Oh no! You're using the stock HU without the amps!

The OEM HU ONLY feeds a LOW voltage signal to the amps, there's less then 1watt of power there. If you're using the OEM HU you NEED the amps hooked up.

Otherwise you'll need an aftermarket HU.

Nothing bad happens, except that the HU doesn't have any power without the amplifiers.

You won't damage anything. You just won't be able to listen to your music.

Hmm, I'm confused. You're using the stock HU, correct?

Without the amps there's almost no power going to the speakers.

hmm, that's weird.

Did you have the bose system? If so then you had individual amps. If not then the HU powers the speakers.
