I more accurately describe it as an active rear toe. The rear does very little to actually turn the car. It has a range of about +/- 1 degree of movement from the static setting. It's purpose is to initially aid in turn in by pointing the outer rear wheel outward in a turn, then adds stability by pointing the outer rear wheel inwards as you settle into the turn. Very much the same way changing your rear toe settings change the handling characteristics. The intent seems to be to try and acheive the good traits of each setting without the compromise. Though many do not seem to like it...
