It's sad to see more and more individuals selling their family jewels to take care of other obligations. There's nothing wrong with prioritising, but this has not been the best year for car enthusiasts. People are losing their jobs, which in turn cause more people to go back to school which still cost a crap load of $$$s. We all know it's election time and I guess it's a good time to look at the economy and the way this country's financial interests have been handled and I'll guess that we'll all make a sound decision on who we think will better serve us as president for the next four years. This is no threat, but a major fact, if you give up your precious CA18 project now and expect to come back into the CA18 game later, it won't be as cheap and this I can only promise. SR20s are even more expensive and are a rarety. So if you have to sell to handle your business, so be it. But if you can work around it and you really love what you've invested your money in, I say find a way to stay and play.

I'll be honest, I've been low-key with my projects as of late, but my G/Fs sentra is already assembled and runs just fine (I just don't talk about it). It wasn't cheap, but it was well and worth every dollar that I spent and every hour that I spent wrenching on it.

So to those that have to go, I hate to see you have to sell, but you gots to do what you gots to do. To those that are willing to take the good with the bad, patience is a virtue and you will so be justly rewarded.

Like you said, you do what you got to do.

And because of ca18's raising, thats the reason Im trying hurry and get one (not stupidly, but ASAP). Everyone's been recommending getting a front clip, but Im not too sure. A ca18det front clip around here is $2,000 at jarco. Im still trying to determine if I want a motorset or clip. If someone can garauntee that I would get EVERYTHING needed to install and get the engine running, I MIGHT get a motorset instead.

Im trying to just save up and of course, prioritize things, but like you said, the economy isnt the best right now. Especially being a college student. Honestly, at this point in my life car stuff SHOULD be last on my list, but the tuning scene is my hobby and life, so I'll forever embrace it, just not on a level with the more fortunate people.

But I wont be upgrading to an aftermarket intercooler, its gonna be a semi-stock install. (by a shop). Rafic quoted me $1600 shipped + some gaskets at the end of august for the motorset. What can I POSSIBLY use from the clip?

If it's a clip from JARCO, I'd pick it up quick. They have great quality stuff. I got my front end converison from them and I was very happy with it. Minimal dents and scratches. They also include stuff like the rear end, driveshaft, and such. If I could have waited till they had one, I would have. Screw Venus...

hmmm?? Yeah I was one of those and had alot of people wanting to buy the car, but I sent out the spare sr t25 to be rebuilt ($285 and warranty) HKS Type 0 turbo timer was just put on. I am starting school at UTI Dec. 13th. I will keep the s13 but need a beater for work and school, so I'm thinking a CRX or some pickup truck.

"The Original CA18DE AND CA18DET engines were examples that came on Several Silvias and 180sx. With the NA DE and the turbocharged DET producing 130hp and 175hp respectively, these engines are widely regarded as not being worth the effort when engine swaps come into play, especially with the increasing availability of sr20det engines on the market"

Whoever came up with this shallow comment is probably in a world of shiet right now with purchasing parts for his/her. Sure stock for stock, the SR will perform a bit better than the CA, but that's what nissan intended it to do. They could've easily turbocharged the SR18 and the mere 30hp difference between the CA18DET and the SR20DET will be a thing of the past. Let them praise the SR and we'll praise the CA. Simplicity and ease of serviceability as well as parts interchangeability makes the CA a smart engine for cost-conscious boosters.
