hey guys, i have a 1999 q45 and everytime i would crank the car on so it can run, i notice my gas meter drop like the heck??? it would do this most of the times when i crank up the car, doesnt matter if the car has been cold or hot, randomly the gas meter would drop as if i drove 10 miles already when i didnt move anywhere, whats going on? do i have a bad sending unit or something wrong with the gas tank or my cars engine to intaking too much gas at startup? thx guys in advanced.

No, there's nothing wrong. When there's no power to the gauge, it's not reading accurately. As soon as you power on, it reads the level and adjusts. :)

Try it with a totally full tank. DO NOT overfill it, though, you'll load up your emissions canister.

but the thing is, how come my gauge gas meter didn't look like it dropped before i turned off the car? an example is me going to grab some food, as im driving there and once im parked there before turning my car off i noticed my gas meter barely moved, but once i turn it off and come back out to the car within 5 mins, i turn my car on and my gas meter just dropped and it looked like i drove a bit further but i didn't do anywhere. :(

Bad sending unit as you suspected is probably the culprit. I know my 300ZX they would go bad every 10 years....not sure if you have to drop the tank or not on a Q but that is probably it.

I would check the instrument cluster first. The sender unit is on the fuel pump assembly as detailed in Tangalora's excellent posts for the G50.

Mmmmmm this is weird, I'm almost at the E mark on my gas meter which would be where my car is suppose to run out of gas but the gas light indicator haven't flashed up, I guess it is a bad sending unit? Where would the gas light indicator show up guys? Where on the cluster? Does this mean I still have gas in tank? I thought the light flash on when I'm near the E mark but not directly almost 1-3 miles from it.
