I just sold off my car that I couldn't afford (04 G35 Sedan).

I have 3400$ cash and decided to say **** payments, I want to pay cash and have a decent car that is still fun to drive and fun to work on. I have stumbled upon the SE-R and love them. Never realized these beasts had the Sr20 motor and great handling.

I found this one on CL near me: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/car/724824806.html

I havent been able to check it all out, but I drove by and it looked to be in pretty good shape inside and out, but he did say he suffers from the common 5th gear popout.

Is this a fair price or what should I offer (around $2500 would be great so I can fix the 5th gear thing right away).

Also, with the cash I have, could I just get a different transmission and pop it in there, not sure on pricing and what not. I have a mechanic friend who could do it (cheap or free) but Ive seen some where you have to customize connects and all that, so I dont know about that, but if its compatible it no problem.

Anyways, what do you think would be the best thing to do? Thanks a ton, I hope to be posting more and more and give some pictures when I finally do.

Transmission swaps are no sweat. Any 2.0 Sentra/200SX/G20 95+ is a good bet.

It doesn't say anything about mileage on the car or the turbo setup, so I'd look into that. Also check for rust.

I'm not terribly knowledgeable on a fair price, but I'd think that depending on the mileage and rust factors, $3k is more reasonable. The other moderator of this section will have more info on that, though.

Welcome to NICO!
