well i need my car to be fast, and my friends keep talking about this turbocharger thingy ...so... i would like a guide/walkthrough on where to get it, how to put it in, and approximately how much it would cost. i have 1 grand cash ready to spend. All help is appreciated .......... JK

any ways, ive been on the forum for quite awhile, but i dont really post much, so here's a post for jyoooo.

my mom gave me this car. it was dirty white and had a blown engine..so... i fixed it.i got it running and later on, painted it. heres the thread i had a while ago on painting the car. zerothread?id=339704 heres the engine before.....

i tore it out and rebuilt it...here it be when it was rebuilt but still out of the car.

the engine ran pretty well for a while, but i didn't break it in properly, so the rings never seated, i lost alot of power and there was a quite a bit of smoke

so........took it out again, bored out .020, new pistons, and rings, new gaskets, lightweight flywheel, and new clutch. for the break in, i followed the procedure of running dino oil, and pushing the crap out of the car, changing oil etc..the car ran flawlessly after that, (plenty of power for that stage in my life)

thennn......the boost bug bit me

i started saving up and researching, then started collecting parts. it was a high school kid budget build.

i spent less than a grand of hard earned money on everything.

parts list:ebay turboebay intercooler kit (with piping)no name bovtial knockoff wgjgs manifoldfmu, i forgot what brand though, its been a whilecolder plugsjgs oil line kitoil restrictor (very important!)battery relocation kit(summit)255lph fuel pumpand a whole mess of other things that i cant remember right now

well heres pictures,

painted intercooler flat black.....just cuz... me no likes shiney

engine bay...will be cleaned later in liferecir'd bov. will get electric fans soon.

wastegate with external dump pipe. dump pipe?? (that sounds weird, is that what its really called??)

FMU mounted to intake manifold

battery relocated

battery box with battery for engine, baseball bat for car security, gatorade to rehydrate myself while using baseball bat to protect my car(screw viper alarms), yellow bowl for helmet or soup, and tools for looking like i know what im doin.....anyways.....

interiorboost gauge, 0-60 timer/green glowing thingy with numbers, radio, and orange sharpie to write my name on stuff...back seats pretending to be dirty full front interior

full car...BISKUT?

well thats my car as of now

i plan on eating dinner, getting a proper fuel system, getting new wheels, lower the car, get a proper turbo, new exhaust, and a better down pipe. and maybe get some type of lip or other aesthetic parts.i also want to paint it black=)

well thats it, i would like to hear any suggestions you may have on improving this cousin of a beast.

-biskut...........

oh btw is there any way i can get volunteer hours while working on cars??

people run fmus because it increases full pressure per boost. thus allowing you to run turboed without lening out and killing your motor. not as good as a tune but gets the job done.

GOD IHATE NOOBS, WHY DONT YOU SEARCH? LOSER, JERKFACE, WHAT ARE YOU LIKE 12?

TURBOCHARGER:

A turbocharger, or turbo, is a gas compressor used for forced-induction of an internal combustion engine. Like a supercharger, the purpose of a turbocharger is to increase the pressure of air entering the engine to create more power. However, a turbocharger differs in that the compressor is powered by a turbine driven by the engine's own exhaust gases.

Specs/links to the turbo please? I'm a cheap a** and want to be KA-T! haha! Seriously though.

Did you buy the manifold new? If so that's like $400 right there.

Wheels and coils and you car will be sweet.

Why the recirculated BOV? I have mine venting to atmosphere and I'm fine, but then again I'm running a tuned ecu.

yeah, but 260cc injectors are still 260cc injectors.

It just seems kinda silly to me that people would use FMUs and max out their injectors before they even hit full boost.

its recir'd cause im running a 'pull through' set up with my MAF. it would run rich after letting off the gas if it wasn't recir'd.

(in a 1700's voice) one day i shall achieve full boost glory with this so called tuned ecu. but for now im broke, im boosted, and im beating my moms other car.... so im happy.

Some of these posts are just pure, golden comedy.

That BOV recirculation is rabid looking. Did you notice any difference in boost response when transitioning from WOT to off, and back on?

i was wondering the same thing lol The project looks a bit rough but that's how mine was at first...in time it will get prettier, just make sure everything is running A-OK..that is number one priority. Cosmetics just make people go ooh and ahh

FMU's bump up the fuel pressure as you go into boost thus allowing the injectors to pass more fuel when they open. Even if they are mere stockers, they can still handle LOW boost (nothing over 7 psi)

7psi is not a universal boost number...

I agree. Get bigger injectors.

you're right 7 psi isn't a universal number, but stock injectors have been known to support 7 psi of boost which is actually pushing it but it has worked.

7 psi from a t25 perhaps. From anything bigger...

well that's all fine and dandy but when you suck a bug into your blow off valve don't say I didn't tell you it's a bad idea. just remember your bov is open when your not in boost

well i've never really driven any other car with a turbo, so i cant really tell/compare differences....soooo... i guess one of you turbo guys need to let me drive your car so i can fully answer this question. =)

the first picture was the blown engine, i took that out and rebuilt it and made it look purty. the next rebuild, i pulled the engine and realized that the valve cover and eccs part was flaking, so i stripped most of the paint off, and planned to paint it again.....but then i found out that paint on your valve cover does nothing for performance 'gasp' (i was shocked at that fact), and just left it alone. put the ugly engine back in, turbo'd it and now im drinking water................thats the story. of the little engine that could
