well if u dont care how it looks and just need a color than i suppose so...

you read super street's project silvia and think you can do the same huh?

well those guys know how to properly mask a car and even tho they used ****ty materials they are still basically professionals...so it still looks 10x better than what you can probably do...that and they have the advantage of media-magic...they have pro-photographers and a comptuer to touch up photos

how good of a paint job do you want ? a spray can job will look like a spray can job ... a compressor, gun and real paint will get you closer to a pro looking job!!!

how can i get the gloss back onto the car if i use spray cans?

i spray painted a section of my car because it was damaged, i used a clear coat on it but it just doesn't gloss.

Get a body shop to paint your car and nothing else.

If you want to prep it (sand and primer) then i'm sure you could work out a deal with a good body shop

Sure, you can paint it if you want, its not going to hurt it or anything

well it could get paint on the windows...that's a *****

but yeah, if you want the gloss...you'll have to buy paint that is glossy, not just matte black spray paint...usually it's automotive paint

just to post something pretty much worthless.....if your paint is structurally sound, you cand sand down the clearcoat (if you have a car with clear coat) and re-compound it. this way you wont have to respray anything at all:D...unless you have a multi colored car (ie: diff color hood:squint)

yea dude but first you chould check out places like MAACO... they have some ultra cheap garbage paint jobs you can buy, and it will still look 349838x better than spray paint-- might even cost about the same if you plan on buying tape and a ton of cans, etc....

they didnt doctor the SCC project silvia on the computer, there are dents and bad trim showing. You dont have to be a profesional to do a "rattle can" paint job, just a perfectionist. they said to do it they just sanded their car down and gave it 5/6 coats in a random pattern to make sure it was covered and to keep it from getting lines.

Either way, as long as you only spray what you want to paint you cant damage it as far as future paint jobs go It will just have to be sanded again.

I was actually thinking of doing the same but just leaving the car in a primer black sort of like SCC's project Slivia (not to be biting their style either). Right now I have a really ****ty Maaco prowler purple paint job and theres red showin everywhere from where those faggots didn't mask right. I saw do 3 coats and it's done. The magic is in the masking.

You could always go to an auto body supplier store and find the OEM color and have em mix some up and put it in spray cans for you. this costs too much($33/can for a 31 year old ford color=I got poked) and isn't worth the trouble though, as it'll still look like a rattle can job. My suggestion would be to invest in the compressor and gun and do the prep work incl. primer work yourself, and let a pro shop finish it up for you.
