I know that I have a high stall torque converter in my Q... When I floor it, the RPMs fly up to about 2800 RPM... This is kinda fun because it gives a little bit more low end power, but ive never really understood why they are there..... What are they supposed to do?

This Q does feel somewhat quicker, doesnt have the deadspots it used to have.....

Think of it as a clutch like a snowmobile would have. It engages everything at a higher RPM than the factory one would. It does this for better out of the hole performance. I'm bad at describing this but I do know how it works. Do you follow me?

Changing the stall speed of the TC upwards could badly change the highway cruise mpg...........if the lockup/unlock rpm changes or TPS is not perfect. And your highways have any inclines that force unlocks as the engine load changes. Not to mention lockup clutch life.

All this is theoretical as never measured a different speed TC on a Q, this mod causes these problems on other transmission/engines, however.

Well known that you need even more extra ATF cooling over and above our simple small external cooler with this mod. Pulling a mountaun incline in 4th unlocked will generate tremendous non standard heat.

Im pretty sure my TC locks up normally.. It drives just like my old Q, and is fully locked at a cruise.. In town in drive it comes on a little later, and stays unlocked...

The thing is the RPMs move around easily with the TC unlocked you can easily tell when its not locked up..... However if the restof the transmission is built it should be OK... And the transmission cooler is bigger than the normal B/M we recommend..
