I located a straight, rust free bed from an SE King Cab. I talked with the owner about a price, but he said he didn't know what they were worth. I saw another one on craigslist awhile back and the guy was asking $1000, but he didn't know what they were worth either. He was just starting there and taking offers. Any input on what a fair price would be? Thank you.

Anywhere from $700.00 - 1k plus is a fair price. Go to the bar and do the deal. It’s a rare find but the demand isn’t there. You also have to figure in the time fuel and distance. With the price of labor and materials it’s difficult to repair one for under $500.00. Another option would be making a flatbed. Before you consider doing it check the frame rails. The rust generally starts in the inside of the frame especially around the leaf spring area and the driver side towards the shock area. If you decide to build a flatbed the only thing extra you will need is a relay to convert from 8- 4 wire for the tail lights. I am going to attempt posting photos of truck with a flatbed. This is how the whomadewho came about. I call the truck my dream truck. It’s a low budget grocery getter and I can change the color in my dreams.

A flatbed is definitely an option I've considered. I'd really like to see what you've come up with. Can't wait for photos. I've spoken with the guy about the bed and he sounds like a good honest salt of the earth kind of soul. I know beds like that are as rare as hen's teeth and as much as I'd like to have it for what I can afford, which isn't much, I'd rather see him get a fair price for it. I just wasn't sure how much that is. Funny about your user name. I just assumed you were an AC/DC fan. I mean who isn't? Much appreciated brother.

With the price of new trucks and the truck is a daily driver I wouldn’t hesitate putting a few $$ into it. As far as for resell NOT. Currently working on a 1997 Nissan SE fully loaded. Original plan was a resell project. I TOTALLY SCREWED UP. A small rust project wound up being a total restoration. My dream truck is a day spent driving around the salvage yard. I purchased an entire trailer full of parts for $200.00 tax free no receipt. The rockers are custom made. Like I mentioned before I have changed the color in my dreams multiple times. Another feature It you can easily locate the truck regardless of the size of the parking lot. Ya I am a AC/DC fan Again if you go the flatbed route make sure you individually mark all the rear lightsImage

I paid 450 for a clean tailgate a few weeks ago and considered it a fair buy. A grand for a fairly clean bed is a good price out here on the S.OR coast.

Looks like you're on your way to having a good solid pickup. I got those exact same wheels from the previous owner, wrapped with like new A/T tires for $50. Yes, no mistaking your truck in a parking lot. Nothing wrong with that. Thanks for the photos. I dig it!
