Hi, all.

What do you folks think is a fair price for a good condition 1993 Q45a (i.e., with the adaptive suspension)? The car has not yet had its guides done, but all four wheels adaptive suspension stuff was recently (about 6 or 7 months ago) dealt with by local Infiniti dealer to normal specs.

How many miles? What kind of condition and service history?

I do not know the miles yet - I will find out today. The car is in excellent condition - all regular service, and more, performed by local Infiniti dealer. Color is the wonderful Ivory Pearl (I think that is what it is called) that is, IMO, the best color available for a first-gen Q.

Ever since I told the owner about the guides, he has been babying it a lot - no revs over 2500. Gentle driving. Just in case! I told him he should do preventive guide maintenance, and he understands this, but all his extra funds are going to support a different hobby - his airplane! :)

Condition is the single most important thing and whil vary a car price.

In a 93Q45a for me that would be :

Running but with issues, $3000

Average shape $6500

Excellent ( and I do mean exzcellent ) shape : $12,000

The last year of the early Q's I find very desirable, the "a" suspension if recently done adds a lot of value to me and ivory pearl quarts is arguably the most desirable color as well.

I once wrote in a thread "what would be your dream car" 1993 Q45a ivory pearl quartz, in perfect shape.

I would buy that car for sure, even above KBB retail book, which I belive does not properly agjust for the fact how desirable thatparticular feature/year/color combo is car is.Can you find good Q's for little money? Yes, but not too many 93a's ivory pearl quartz..

Hi, Fred.

Since the guides do need to be done for this car, would the prices you mention need to be reduced by an appropriate amount for this purpose?

not the first 2 as they assume no guides done.

From the last number I would subract the price of the full guide job, assuming oil pan clean, and a little extra for your hassle.Lower miles?Newer transmission?fluids <all> (to include diff/pwr steer, brake fluid, coolant etc) changed regularily? When looking under oil filler cap everything look reasonably clean w/ no excessive varnishing?Engine run smooth?Last price assumes all of the above plus guides done.

Boy, I dunno. If my car disappeared today and I had to find a Q, I really don't see myself paying more than $4000 for a stock Q...maybe a *bit* more if it had less than 60k or if the guides were done. The used car market remains pretty soft. Ultimately, it comes down to what it's worth to you, but I think it's safe to say there probably aren't too many people knocking down his door to buy the car.

I found out more info. The mileage is 104k. Condition of the car is generally very good. Very few scratches and dings. Radio is in good condition. Tires are not up to snuff, but the rims are fine. The adaptive suspension is working perfectly fine - having been repaired late last year by local Infiniti dealer. Outside and inside, the car is very clean. Non-smoker owner. The seats have been re-upholstered - but not with leather (!) as the current owner does not like leather seating. He felt it gets too warm ... after sitting in his non-leather seats, I almost have to agree. The seats were cool when I sat down, even though the leather ones in my current 1995 Q were toasty that day.

Non leather seats would be a big disincentive for me and reduce the price.Excellenty condition mean good tires so they need to come of the price.

If I was you I would look for a much lower price than what I mentioned in my highest value.-1700 (for guides assuming oil pan drop needed)-500 since you need to spend $700-900 on new tires right away.-1000 cost of re leathering the front seats. maybe 7k is a fair price at this point (which may dispoint him since he probably payed nearly as much for his active suspension work recently).

Did you find out EXACTLY what was done to the Active Suspension? If all the accumilators where not replaced, then I'd say it significantly reduces the amount the car is worth.

They could go at any time and cost HUGE $$$.What about the rest of the car, has he replaced the injectors, plentum hoses, etc.

I'm with Daedalus on the price, I'd say 4-5K tops.

Fred if you're still in the market for another Q, I saw a stunningly beautiful '94 Ivory near my house the other day. under 60K miles, owner asking 10K though.

For comparison, my coworker just bought a '97 Q with 70k for under $9k from a *dealership*. That's the out-the-door price I believe. It's well maintained, but its at the mileage when a lot of things begin to need replacing, such as shocks.
