Whats up,

New guy hear. I'm looking to do some mods and want to start with a catback exhaust and intake on an 05 G35 6MT coupe. What is a good system and is there a real difference in a true dual exhaust?

thanks

Thank for the reply. How much louder is it than the stock exhaust?

Its hard to tell exactly how much, unless i have a decibel reader!!! I have noticed more of a rumble on the highway at 4000rpm's. Its not so much that it drives me crazy or anything, but its a nice, powerful sound. Definatly turns heads. But it was a bit on the pricey side. CHA CHING :yesnod

Yeah. I'm looking for something in the median price range. A little more bang for the buck. There are so many to choose from(head spinning)just don't know what to go with. Want something not pricing but not junk either. I see quite a few true dual exhaust systems on eBay for under 500 bux and other for well over 1000. I guess you get what you pay for?!?! Are the exhaust on eBay for 500 junk or worth it?

Its hard to say with ebay. I tend to go with a seller (whether or not their a creditable source and the quality of their products) that I am firmiliar with. Bought headers a few years back for my integra, ended up taking my rad out to lineup the bolt mounts and they didnt even line up. That being said, its kinda hit or miss with ebay. But thats just from my expierience.

I noticed you were asking about the true dual exhausts on ebay. I bought one a few years ago and have no problems with it, easy install, all the parts needed, etc. The only 2 complaints I have about it is when its cold, the sound is higher pitched and more "tin can" than i like but it gets much better after the exhaust warms up and... its pretty loud. I know the loud thing sounds stupid but the exhaust set up I have (headers, high flow Kinetix cats, true dual exhaust) is very loud at highway speeds and has a drone to it that makes my wife not want to drive it or leave town in it. The interstate is about a 1/4 mile from my house and I can hear my car getting on the freeway when someone is jamming on it, so its kinda loud. I think the "tinny" sound it has is possibly from too thin walled tubing but it may just be the nature of the beast. The other thing to think about with exhaust is the purpose of it, the TRUE purpose of it. I put mine together for track days and high flow at higher rpm's, which it is perfect for. If you're just looking for a better sound and a few extra ponies I would say go for a more traditional cat back exhaust that is the 2 into one with the traditional muffler set up and has the dual exhaust tips. The other negative about a true dual is you do lose some back pressure which results in a loss of low end torque. I have seen many exhausts on ebay and am thinking of replacing my true dual with a new y pipe and all the things back from there. Can't decide if its time to be more responsible yet or not, I'm still having so much fun! :gapteeth: I have babbled on enough, hope something here helped. have fun and WELCOME!! to Nico.

You've probably already bought an exhaust but for anyone else looking....go with QUALITY...don't buy anything you are probably going to want to replace later....a lot of my parts for my 03 g35 are from Stillen....Stillen will show you numbers regarding HP TQ instead of making a statement like....increases HP more than any other exhaust...blah blah blah.....same with intake and other stillen options...plus my stillen intake, stillen headers, stillen catback exhaust sound awesome together....hope this might have helped someone in our community!

I've enjoyed my Invidia system. With the high-flow cats it is much louder than stock though.

Is the Stillen true dual system sound "reasonably aggressive" compared to the Borla. I can't decide which to get, though the Borla is less$. The car is street only, I have a Stillen Z tube and expect to get the Motordyne spacer, though I can't decide which model of that either.
Thanks

I had the Stillen on my old car. It was a true dual exhaust with an X-Pipe. Sounded amazing but wasn't too loud for everyday highway cruising.
