it makes the back wheel turn along with the front. it supposedly increases handling capabilities. but with the cars being so old many have had problems with the system.so they get it removed. also we have alot of drifters on this forum and driting and hicas do not go together.

not only are the systems old, but the HICAS we got on the 240s wasn't as advanced as the HICAS on the same year Zs and Skylines. The skyline HICAS is fairly good from what I understand, and i haven't heard many complaints about it yet

so....would it be intelligent to eliminate HICAS being that it is old and wasnt the best compared to same year z and skyline? Is there a difference in handling and how the car behaves on the road when the HICAS system is left on/taken off?

Possible, but a huge pain in the rear and not worth the effort.

Not only do you have to add the rack, the hydraulic lines, and the different P/S pump...but you also have to add the steering wheel hub with the sensor and hook up all the myriad wiring.

All for a system that's barely noticeable even when it's working. In very hard grip cornering I can feel a little bit of rear motion as the toe adjusts, not a bad thing, but it's very slight.

As for its alleged detrimental effects on drifting, I don't drift very much, but I haven't felt it be a factor on the occasions I have.

sorry meantime. I was just assuming with the back wheels turning out while you were turning in would be harder.

You mean with respect to drifting? I can see how having the rear toe adjust suddenly may feel strange...but it's only 1 degree +/- IIRC...

It's supposed to help with slalom-type driving. Again, I don't really notice it, it's pretty subtle.

thats odd because i can really feel it when i'm pushing my car. hell everyone that has ridden in the car with me has mentioned that they could feel it aswell. but then i do tend to push my car fairly hard.

i HAD hicas before my swap and i miss it. turning isn't the same, changing lanes isn't the same, and parking isn't the same. alot of people knock on HICAS before they know how it is, just because they read it somewhere and the japanese use hicas eliminator bars for driftin...its JDM TYTE!
