I have a KA24E with the stock air box. I was thinking if I was going to mod the KA with anything it would probably just be simple bolt-ons, first one being a intake upgrade. There's quite a few floating about, what do you recommend/use and why? Thanks in advance.

i think Injen uses slightly bigger piping than AEM, so that might be your best choice. I wouldnt use any cheapo ebay intakes or "race air filters" like the ApexI unit, but thats just me.

I will be going with Injen.

Injen was the first intake to come to mind, and if you're right about the piping deal then Injen will be my choice aswell ;)

Plus, I don't think I'll ever take eBay seriously. I know tons of people got great deals and whatever, but that's just not my game.

aem for me. have had it for years and no problems. save the extra 40 or 50 bux for something else, like GAS. lol. 150 shipped all day for the aem. not to mention the variety of colors to liven up the engine bay. heh.

i use hot shot. the size of the intake isnt going to matter unless youre running a larger than stock maf. its a bottle neck so no matter what, youre only going to get as much air as the maf will allow.

the thing to remember is, at the track, both types of intake, the wai and cai, net the same times. they just deliver power to different rpm ranges.

Not knowing what an ingen or an aem intake are like (although it sounds like some of you have had success w/ them) I will say that my $30 ebay intake fit perfectly and although it doesn't have the fancy anodized finish with decals, I don't think it really matters accept for bragging rights. It sounds awsome at WAT and the seat of my pants says it gained some especially on the top end. I have started a custom ram air setup that will help even more. I was wondering if it would help much to run the shortest possible route for the intake, say like moving the battery and running the intake straight down for the ram air setup?(similar to NIGHTfall_240sx's setup) I would keep the intake then for winter driving. (It is a short ram intake from a company called Bomz racing or something like that with an APC filter) -Scott

Putting a hole in your air box gives you a good 3-5 hp increase

A $30 intake comes with a $5 air filter. Add $50 for that k&n airfilter that the injen comes with

Are you talking filters? I wasn't aware they made intakes for the KA.

i had an HKS intake filter on my 91 240. i was pleased w/ it. when i installed it, i noticed a small gain after 4500 rpms. but it was on stock plastic piping. i think i'm going to stick w/ jdm filters, but my friend and i are about to try and creat our own piping. at first i didn't understand the point of even getting piping, but it just hit me when i was reading this thread (cold air vs hot air).

JDM filters on stock piping is "ok". you'll notice a "meaner" sound from ur engine, and lil power gain. if nething, its just a better throttle response (like piping would give you a whole lot of HP ne way).
