i am pretty sure the SR would make it a silvia and the ca would make it a 180sx, so i would get the CA18det which is what i want so its automatically :ylsuper

If you wanted to be fully commited then you could get the 180SX rear panal glass to replace the glass that says 240SX on it. Right hand drive would be the ultimate conversion piece. You would need a rear hatch wiper. Id say go aftermarket for stuff like interior (change to something like Bride seats) and a drift style body kit like the ones from GP sport or Target Aero.

Actually, the 180sx only came with the CA18DET in the early years. Then switched to the SR20DET. Then the only differences between the 180sx and Silvia would be the body style. Silvia had fixed headlights and was the coupe, where as the 180sx had popup headlights and a fastback.

also the 180sx came in 4 different factory trim levels type g type x and two that at the moment escape me. They type x bodykit is a beautiful thing. There was a post in the old forum with all the trim levels. I wish someone would post it again.

Hello. I just bought a '90 240sx today, this is my first post to these forums. I am curious, for the 180sx type x taillight conversion, is that a "bolt on" conversion, or is there some fabrication invloved? my 240 has some rear end damage (cracked tail light) so that's the first thing I plan on doing and I just want to know if I should also plan on having a shop do it, or if I can just swap them out myself.

its a bolt on affair. however you will need the full tail light kit for the lights to be properly installed. this will include the 2 tail lights, the center tail light bezel, the rear hatch lock, and the metal piece under the whole tail light assembly. the reason you need the last 2 is because the tail lights are shaped differently so you will need the new metal piece to fit, and also the 180 kouki lights stick out farther then the stock lights, so your key wont fit right in the original lock anymore.

(i didn't read anything) Black top SR20DET, taill lights, front bumper, sides, and i think rear bumper, 1/4 panels (the little side windows that say 240 on them would have to be replaced) and fog lamps. and rear wing...

(ok to beat this down yet again) that jacquemond kit is the worst wide body kit ever made for the 89-93 (unless you llive in Jap 89-98) ever. it's ugly as hell. and please don't ask me what one is better than that b/c i posted the car hundreds of times b4. (jacquemonds, HA who is that guy anyway. its obvious that he doen's know cars that well anyway.) sorry for the double post
