About the only good thing about this damn class was the fact we were able to make whatever design we wanted into a 4x4 block of aluminum. We then had to program it then actually machine it.

Nice. At least you learned something.

What are you going to do with it?

That''s pretty sweet, they are amazing machines fo sho. I've got access to a C&C and like to get creative with it also. I just built a box for my QX4 and used a C&C to cut all the MDF with the speaker holes and terminal. It's nice when you can get something accurate down to the .001" especially when it's a speaker box that is designed with the exact amount of air space specified for those subs. Check out this little project I took on using a C&C http://wetpixel.com/forums/ind...22244 not car related but pretty cool.

EDIT: Sorry for hijacking, what program did you use to design and cut this?

I misunderstood what CNC stood for.

"Everybody dance now... da...da...da..da....da...da...da..." (This will test how old people on the board are)

Thanks every one. Eventually I want it to get it painted and/or anodized. When I get around to it I might stick on the amp rack I eventually build. But right now its looking like a pretty pimp paperweight

Looks sweet! Personally, I'd clear coat it and use it as a hitch cover. Hmmm I have a friend who sells CNC machines. I think it is time to give him a call.

That is neat, I realize this thread is old but I am "newer" to this site and going thru alot of the older posts.Axel, Can you tell me where to get the black lower grilles you have for the fog lights and lower radiator opening???? I have never seen them before and really like them. Also had a rock go thru the lower portion of the air condensor and this may be the trick to saving the new one. Thanks

Sorry dude, I don't remember where I got them. It was one of the first things I did to my Pathy when I got it about 5 years ago. They are not the best, they are only zipped tied on and started rusting pretty quick. I just havent had the motivation to either find something better or repaint them.

very nice! i did some work with an engraver at my last job, I made my custom logo for my subs on it but it was on this plastic board stuff. I wish I did it on some thin metal it would look much better. Really neat though, just build the design on the computer and the accuracy is incredible...$14,000 well spent!

as for the lower grille...are you talking about the mesh grille? i have it, my kit came with 4 pieces, 2 for the top grille, 2 for the bottom

Yeah I played around engraving stuff too. Made this for my amp rack did it by hand with a dremel, kind of a pain in the a** but came out pretty good.

Axel/Qx-Thanks, Qx yes that is what I am looking for, The Paths's have different foglights and I really like the side pieces Axel has. How do those pieces mount to the plastic bumper cover?? Do u have to drill holes and use zip ties? Qx, Any info on where you got them appreciated as well. Already had to shave the bumper cover to make wheels tires fit so I dont mind drilling etc. Thanks to you both for the info--dont mean to hijack the CNC thread.

Mine are only zipped tied on (thats how they told me to do it). I thought it was really cheesy but they have stayed on so far.

I make pieces for my cars all the time at work on the cnc mills, from exhaust flanges, turbo pieces, traction bars and probably close to a hundred different brackets.

Most recent thing I made is a aluminum dist block for my stereo I guess, 5 2/0 outputs and a few smaller ones, was just a simple mill the block square and some drilling and tapping and thru holes though, did it all with the handwheel

Wish I could make up some sweet metal signs and engravings in plexiglass though, I could make a killing

The pieces next to my fogs are stock, i just painted them to match the mesh. the mesh pieces are zip tied on in the bottom and the top ones, i unscrewed the grille..it comes apart into two pieces and you sandwich the mesh inbetween with some minor cuts to allow tabs to pass through

Axel....with a dremel...really...you got skills man
