I really like how these Japanese vehicles can take so much abuse. I mean, all you have to do is regular maintenance and it will run forever. You could floor a g35 every time you pull out and it wouldn't even harm the engine...now that says something. BMW's can stand up to that abuse but the engines and automatic transmissions couldn't run as long as the VQ. BMW's all wheel drive models are junk but Infiniti makes an excellent AWD system that's super reliable. The things that go wrong on these cars are mostly electrical, am I correct? (at least in the non rev-up motor)

Over time you will run into mechanical issues, there is really no way out from that. Automatic transmissions only last so long and then you have wear and tear parts. I have seen members with VQ-series motors with 300k on them.

Maintenance is key.

They just last a lot longer than the competition and they can take so much abuse as long as you maintain them. Does anything go wrong if you do the recommended maintenance? I feel like you could floor it all the time and never have anything break down as long as you take care of it.

i abused my old 2005 g35x from 18k miles to 72k miles and it still ran silent at ilde... had many track days under her belt too. everything help up, no over heating or random engine lights. The VQ engine is a dream as long as it gets its regular maintence.

so far my g37x has held up to my abuse, and in return i pamper my G37x with visits to the shop every 4000 miles.
