I want to see what the rest of the board thinks of my progress besides the 720 folks, so I am going to link to the topic here on the general chat as well...

See full topic here: topic537563.html

This weekend I cleaned the engine compartment, replaced the bungee cord with a proper battery hold down, put on an old school lace up steering wheel cover and seat console the wife bought me, cleaned the interior and sanded and painted some interior parts flat black. I also painted the ugly part of the door panel black.

So far I have shaved and filled trim, unwanted body lines, lowered, got rid of rust, and painted trim gloss black and the truck flat black primer.

Looks great but, and don't take offense, please paint it. The flat black primer look is tired as everyone is doing the murdered-out look, Pezi is the only one I can tolerate who has done it because his is a purpose built race truck, not a typical frame slammer. The truck looks like a great project otherwise and I am jealous you own a Datsun.

The flat black is temporary. I just couldn't drive it around in three colors (rust, yellow, gray) any longer.

Cleaned the engine today at work with full strength degreaser and wheel cleaning acid. Also changed out the gray bath towel covering the ripped up seat cushion to black. I also straightened out the front bumper by standing on it.

I didn't know the import car companies used to paint their engines too! I love that! :bigthumb:

Heck no! Not my style. Yuck. I like black. Most likely it will stay black, but gloss or satin with different color stripes on hood and rockers and Datsun on tailgate.
