A few of my buddies and I passed through Box Canyon near Florence AZ yesterday. Posted a few pics. We had along an FJ, F150, Wrangler, and of course my QX4. I had the least amount of clearance, and no trouble at all. F150 was the most concerning due to longer wheel base and a propane conversion that leaves tanks under the tail. We were the only stock vehicles on the trail. Most where well modified Jeeps. I included a picture of some for example. No one had any real problems. The Q perfromed like a champ under some fairy tough spots.

It's a blast. So may places to go out here. I'll keep posting pictures from the trips as I go.Whats awesome too, is that I could right now drive 2-3 hours north and be in the snow.

Thanks man. I missed a few good ones because I was driving...of course. But wouldn't have given that up for a picture . Sometimes I'm still amazed how much flex is in the stock suspension. Never even rubbed with the the 245/70/16 BFGs. Can't wait for my lift though!

Are you going with the AC 2" lift coils or the OME .75" lift coils?

Leaning OME - you still have the AC? I've not heard of too many people going with the OME though - 1 or 2 on this forum, but may have missed something. My mind can still change. Any thoughts?

I run the AC 2" coils with KYB GR-2 struts & Rancho 9000 shocks & couldn't be more happy. I've tried to run the hell outta them & they've held up very well. Since you can run a 31" tire without any lift, for me it didn't make sense to get coils smaller than the 2" lift coils (actually the same hieght as the OEM Nissan coils they just have a higher spring rate). Alot of people in Australia run the OME coils because of hieght & tire restrictions they have there.

Are the struts any different than stock? I just replaced struts and shocks with KYBs about 10K miles ago and I'd rather not replace them if I don't have to. I understand the shocks are longer.

I have longer range of travel in the rear & the front is a smoother ride on the road but you don't have to replace them if you don't want to. I replaced them when I put in the new coils cause they were all OEM stuff with like 160K+ on 'em

You can still do a bunch of wheelin with a 2wd you just can't do any rock crawling (or you can you just probably won't be very effective).

If you are interested in lifting your R51 then check this out http://www.purenissan.com/2005_preview1.htmI've been waiting for someone out there to buy this sumbitch & show it off but so far I haven't seen anyone.

My OEM was shot after 100K - Can't imagine after 160K!

Does anyone offer further range in a strut?

Not to my knowledge. I'm sure someone could fab something up though but you might get to a point were it would put too bad of an angle on the CV's (thats kind of what happens with 1+" strut spacers)

Seems to me there should be another CV axel option that is longer or something.
