I am literally tearing my hair out figuring out the best way to get an aux input setup for my car without splicing wires. I don't mind losing the tape deck but I would prefer to have a splitter or something similar setup.

Does anyone know the info for the head-unit? I will use that information to get some work done with my friend when he works on his G-35 coupe's head-unit.

Come on, not one response?

Is the unit the same as the Q-45? If so, there are some PAC adapters I saw floating around for that that I am interested in.

Please, someone with the know-how, help a fellow M-45 owner out :D

I was not sure what the actual question was. I got the impression you were asking about the name of actual OEM mftr of the head unit .. and I did not know that.

If, however, you are asking whether it is the same as the same year Q45, then I'd hazard a guess that it would be similar for sure. They certainly look close.

We have the Service Manuals for both vehicles (link is in my sig). You could check them to see if they have the same Infiniti part number perhaps!

Hello,Unfortunately, there really is not a head unit in your car. With Bose systems, each speaker is powered individually at the source. I suppose by definition, the head unit would be the vehicle information display or nav screen.

Short of adding bass via a outboard amp and subwoofer, there are no easy solutions. While you could certainly pull out the Bose system, get ready to spend and spend. And I cannot say this enough, make sure you check out your car stereo installer. Some are artists, many are hacks. A hack can honestly ruin your car.

JL Audio's Cleansweep might be helpful in your goals as well. Again, this solution would not be cheap. However, the Cleansweep does provide previously unheard of flexibility with Bose systems. Might be just the thing. Adding bass however would be much easier and less invasive.Cheers,ML

If you are going to cut a harness on any Infiniti be very careful!

I really don't know what your looking for but there are a few answers for you

Manufacturer-Clarion

Head unit id #- Look at the number on the tape deck door (top right I think should be a 5 digit series of letters and number)

Same as the Q- No the Q uses a unique setup with AV control units and display monitors running through the NAV and Tape deck. The G uses a large audio unit under the dash to process all audio functions.

AUX input- There are things you can have installed in series like an FM modulator that overrides the antenna signal through directs connection. If you do not have SAT I think there is are a few products out there that use the connector on the back of the unit.

Audio horrors-

I once had an 03 coupe that had a DIY installed complete audio "upgrade" than when it went wrong and fried his now out of warranty BCM, someone "stole" all the audio components. When the insurance company came out they basically totaled his car since there were <$15,000 in damage. Then they found out it was an inside job and promptly denied him, I don't know if they ever went after him for fraud though.

Hello,I am pretty sure the F50 (2002-2006) Q45 and Y34 (2003-2004) M45 share the exact same craptastic components. As they pretty much share the same interior. I do like the Q gauge cluster and illumination much better. I would love to change the dash color or as Car & Driver succinctly put it: "Orange. Isn't that—what? . . . Reese's? Kubota?" (3/03)

The HVAC, NAV, etc.. are identical. The Q does have more speakers however. More of the lovely Bose sound to go around.Cheers,ML

Yeah I realized my error with the model numbers I tend to interchange them at will.

It should be easier on the M but its still a good bit of work. Most of those actually have aux input plugs on the audio unit for the factory sat i do not think is prewired. I know the Q is like that and they do infact have the same complex electronics. Those are my favorite ones to diagnose, its a trip.

I am glad to see with the 08+ M Infiniti has finally adopted a gauge color that makes me actually want one. Orange though why orange?

I will work on remembering the model codes, you guys use that more than I have ever seen in the field. Most customers have no clue what they are and i always look my parts up by VIN.
