What have you hauled in your EX35?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I was one of the very first EX35 buyers (Dec. 20, 2007). The biggest reasons I wanted one was for its sexy looks, its cool electronic gadgets, its abundance of power, its terrific handling, and its luxurious interior. But I also wanted a bit more practical car. The car that the EX35 replaced was a boring (but luxurious) 4-door Lexus sedan. My other car (which I still own) is a 2-seat convertible (not practical but one hell of a lot of fun! ). So the ability to drop the rear seat backs and have more cargo room in the EX35 was also really attractive. And in the past 18 months, it has come in incredibly handy:

• I've hauled some rather large boxes to or from the UPS center! I'm talking boxes that would NOT fit in the back seat or trunk of the Lexus.

• I've hauled home 8 foot pieces of lumber by guiding them out the passenger window and extended back over the lowered rear seats.

• I've hauled home unassembled furniture from Ikea. Enough boxes that it would have been an impossible fit in the Lexus.

• Most recently, I hauled home a 36" x 80" storm door from Lowes. It laid perfectly flat but, of course, stuck out the back. A couple of bungee cords held the rear cargo door down (and kept the door from sliding out while driving home).

What have you hauled in your EX35?

My wife enjoys "hauling" our most precious "cargo" (my 1 year old daughter) around since she was born. We actually got the EX for the extra room and it is doing a fine job so far. Gotta love the EX.

a full week trip to Moab; luggage, cooler and clothing for a week for two people PLUS two adult Trek mountain bikes INSIDE the EX35. Had to remove the front wheels, but all of it fit inside. We were amazed. Plus we got almost 26MPG on the trip.

Only thing so far is a 42 inch Panasonic Plasma in the box, it fit perfectly.

I've loaded a 50" plasma T.V. box into my EX the other week. The box was much bigger than the television. Was quite pleasantly surprised it fit.

Its also done duty for Ikea furniture but I remember I couldn't fit a large Ikea storage closet in the because it was too long. Had to borrow the parents MDX for that job.

I'm ashamed to say a Honda Fit might "fit" more things in than my EX because of the versatility but you gotta give up something for the addional luxury and comfort.
