Yes a lot of this is a rant but wtf has happened to TV? It's all garbage...How is it that I cannot find a single thing to watch? For the most part I try and watch shows that aren't totally brainless but then a lot of those shows end up being a joke. On Demand is even worse...It seems like they keep getting rid of everything I watch on there. This whole "reality" TV is such a f*** joke. There is nothing real about it. I used to watch operation repo and kind of liked that but then things didn't seem right...come to find out, its fake. Of course though, because the show was sucessful, they come out with cheaper and more "hardcore" versions of the show like All Worked Up. I like Pawn Stars...so of course they come up with Hardcore Pawn...Why does everything have to be "hardcore?"
I like watching History, Nat Geo, ESPN, and Travel. History is my favorite because I like History but most of the time they don't show f*** History. I know technically if something happened yesterday it is history but come on...Modern Marvels will be on shortly...If I wanted to see something modern why would I watch the History Channel.

Some times I stumble upon something new that I think might be good and they wreck it. On On Demand they had this show called The Colony on Discovery. I saw the first 3 episodes from season 1 and liked it for the most part. I decided to watch season 2...Big mistake. If you haven't seen it, basicly its about how would people survive after a major world disaster. They take a group of people and give them a certain area and they have to use things they find to live...the problem is they have people trying to take their supplies (yea that's realistic.) But when raiders came to take supplies they had a large group of people and totally overwhelmed them and used smoke bombs and pepper spray. How is that even fair? You know the producers said not to hurt anyone but here's the thing...If you are trying to take my food and you are spraying me with pepper spray, I'm going to smash your head in and break your back with the metal rod I am holding. Either don't use pepper spray or let them bash heads in...bottom line, won't watch the show again.

Again what is with everyone copying? How many f*** shows do we need about cake? All of a sudden, a couple of weeks ago, TV is flooded with shows about fishing. When did this s*** become popular? Usually people are pissed when fishing is on ESPN 2 but now there are tons of shows about it...I guess they are more hardcore because the fish are bigger?

I'm going to scan the channels and see what's on right now...

Tyra and Dr Phil are on...2 worthless people...great job women...
Fox "news" Don't even get me started...

Disney channel...I used to watch Hannah Montana with my wife because she liked it and really it's not that bad of a show but we can't stand it any more because of Miley Cyrus. What is it with Disney and creating whores?

TLC...another show about midgets...I get it...it sucks to be a midget. The only thing I can come up with is people think this s*** is funny. They are taking advantage of these people. Oh and tonight an all new 19 kids and counting...wonderful parents there.

BET...I'm sure all of our future lawyers and busniess owners are sitting around watching that.

VH1 lol Don't see any videos...just worthless "reality" shows for women...

MTV...Once again no music. The only show on MTV that I found mildly entertaining was Bully Beatdown because I love seeing cocky pricks get beat up by pro fighters. Why does everything think they can beat up a pro fighter? Every other show on that channel blows.

CMT...Hmm no music here either...this is MTV for hicks.

Oh good Star Trek Enterprise is on Syfy. Go figure I have seen this episode...I have seen 4 or 5 episodes of this show ever (same with a lot of other TV series) but they always manage to show an episode I have already seen.

E!-A perfect channel for people that don't know how to mind their own f*** business and have nothing better to do than talk about other people, rather than worry about themselves.

2 Law and Orders are on...yea I get it, you solve crimes. I did like CSI for a bit, but then they got rid of the cast. When I say CSI I mean CSI, not this New York and Miami crap.

Oh man vs food...theres an amazing show! This is overweight f*** is trying to see if he can finish a meal? This means he beats food? What if you give him more food, and more food? Food would win every time...

Soccer...America's favorite sport...

TruTV...World's Dumbest is on. Not a bad show. I like watching those shows sometimes. Most Shocking, Cops, Bait Car...I like watching stupid people. Bait Car is great for my black and mexican culture. I'm not trying to be racist but seriously 90% of the people on that show are black or hispanic.

Here's a true story...I was hanging out with my wifes family and I mentioned all people do is watch garbage like Girls Next Door and stuff. Her aunt responds with "Oh! I love that show!" I said "Why don't you watch a show about socioeconomic status." She says "about what!?" I say "my point..."

I guess I am done ranting now...Since there is nothing on I will have to read, you know, that thing you do with books, or I could go for another run...

I look forward to hearing your opinions on TV :)

You know what reality show is great? Jersey Shore!

I agree. Most tv shows are completely worthless. That's probably the reason I refuse to pay for cable (or dish).... If I ever do find myself watching tv its probably a cartoon. Like spongebob squarepants.

History/Discovery/TLC and sports. If nothing is going on any of those ways, I'll be throwing in a movie or watching some old tv shows I have saved.

Don't you always complain when people post responses that, as you call it, "add nothing to the conversation"?

I do have like 300 movies but I can never seem to find one I want to watch. I am looking at buying some shows they have on history and stuff but I don't have the money for that right now.

I'm the same way with movies.

Forgot to mention that the only reality show I watch is probably survivor. I dunno, I still enjoy it. :gotme Most stuff on tv I would probably consider to be garbage, however.

It cost the network a whole lot less to stick a bunch of losers on a tv show than to hire actual actors. Recession is what happened.

I don't know.... I still think there's a lot of good stuff on TV.

Yeah there's a lot of crap too, but what's crap to me is probably amazing TV to someone else.

I personally love "reality" TV. I know its trashy and mostly fake, but it's entertaining! And thats usually why I watch TV, to be entertained!

I don't watch too many action/dramas but Castle is good, I saw one episode of 24 and it was good. I've seen a few episodes of House witch I enjoyed. Hell even Desperate Housewives is great once you get into it!

I love the Office, but Steve Carell is leaving after this upcoming season so we'll see where it goes from there, but DVR the reruns if you've never seen the show. G4 also plays some good movies, along with Attack of the Show and X-Play.

Ninja Warrior on G4 is an amazing show! They've been having a marathon for the past few days if you wanna tune into that. Unbeatable Banzuke is also good.

As said earlier Powerblock on Spike Saturday mornings is awesome.

Travel channel has some great shows as does Discovery.

I haven't watched Food Network in a while but if Good Eats is still on, nothing beats that.

If you're looking for mindless entertainment MTV/VH1 are great to watch. Thats not meant to be an insulting comment. I enjoy watching both of these channels, I just don't expect to learn anything, but they have some decent programming. As far as music goes, you're better of looking online. Sorry.

TBS has a few good shows - even though most of it's not original programming (i.e. Family Guy, Seinfeild)

Comedy Central's stand up shows usually suck, but Daily Show, Colbert Report, South Park, Tosh.0, Futurama and a few select movies they play are all fun to watch.

Game Shows? I love watching Family Feud and Jeopardy. Even Wheel of Fortune is ok. This new show Minute to Win It is meh, it kind of drags on and has a little too much filler.

truTV has a few good programs. COPS, Most Shocking, Most Daring... and all those other types of shows.

A&E - First 48, Mindfreak is fun to watch.

DIY Network has some interesting shows if you're into Home Improvement.

Nickeloden, Cartoon Network (Adult Swim), and to a much lesser extent Disney Channel has a few great shows. A lot of them entertaining to children sure, but with enough adult themes to make them enjoyable.

Science (or maybe SciFi) has How its Made.. thats a pretty informing show.

And every now and again I get lucky with HBO or Showtime.

I don't really know what kind of TV your looking for, but it sounds like you're being a bit too picky or aren't looking hard enough.

What kind of shows are you exactly looking for?

Is that the show where they stick a bunch of people on an island that people have already been living on for hundreds of years?

I just like shows that are relavent to life.
That can teach you stuff.
Stimulate thought...not drama, there is a difference.
Stuff about the history, science, why we are the way we are today.

People try and argue with me about science and religion but yet most people don't know the first thing about their religion.

I'm not a big fan of anything that's on TV at the moment, except for the fact that it's Foot ball Season!

Just for s*** and giggles, I looked up the 10 most popular shows on TV right now and they are:

1. True Blood
2. House
3. NCIS
4. Criminal Minds
5. Grey's Anatomy
6. Bones
7. Lie To Me
8. Supernatural
9. Smallville
10. One Tree Hill

I used to be religious about watching House but I haven't seen an episode in over a year. I've seen one episode of NCIS and a couple of shows from Bones but that's it. I've not seen any of the others. I don't know that it's the programming per se, but I honestly don't have time to watch TV. I have too much other stuff I have to do everyday. I watch the news during supper and that's pretty much it. Reality TV grates my nerves. I will not watch it, at all. If the kids are watching Spongebob and I'm in the room, I make them turn it off. It's that horrible.

When Greg was in the hospital last winter, we watched TV for two weeks. It was the most I had watched in probably two years, or more.

I used to watch House also. I liked it because it made me think. I liked to try and figure it out. I haven't watched it in some time though...too much drama for me. Haven't seen any of the other shows.

And that reminds me...Why is every single movie a love story? Every action movie is a love story. Transformers, Avatar, ect. Why can't they just make a movie for men? I mean I know they do it because men love action and women love love but come on...Avatar was neat and everything but the storyline was so bad, I mean I have already seen Pocahontas.

So what if I do? Did I miss the rule about not complaining? If you don't like me, don't read my posts. Simple enough isn't it?

Oh and by the way this is how this posts starts...

Yes a lot of this is a rant but...

See in rants people usually complain. I know it's hard to figure that out but it's true. If you don't want to hear about people complaining, don't read rants...You see how it clearly says rants in the first line?

Listen, I don't want to fight with anyone but YOU attacked ME. I don't mean to piss anyone else off but how is this cluttering up the forum any more than a TON of blurry pictures of Texas or someone telling us they got a new puppy?
I like those topics because this is a General Chat. It is going to be full of garbage. A couple posts of me complaining about things is hardly cluttering this forum up. Don't you think that your smart a** remarks are cluttering up this post? Whether you like it or not it is still my post. I get that you misread my other topic and are a little butt hurt, but get over it and maybe we can be friends.

if youre solely watching TV to "learn and think" you are never going to be satisfied. its ENTERTAINMENT, not SCHOOL. i love a good documentary but the world doesnt thats why there are so few good ones coming out on a regular basis. the BBC has great ones that are hardly ever even shown here.

true blood
dexter
sons of anarchy
breaking bad
entourage

all are awesome shows that you probably have no idea exist. you have to wade through lots of s*** to find the diamonds but when you do its worth it.

Nothing on TV. The exact reason why I have not had cable for 4-5 yrs now.

I went a few years without a TV. Now I have a 54" plasma and we don't have cable, or even a TV tuner. The last time the TV was on was Friday so I could play a computer game.

It would seem like it's time for you to go ahead and sell your TV and buy some books. TV isn't about being educational it's about making money, and unfortunately most of TV watching Americans want junk and flash.

I love reality TV, it pays my bills.

if it's not cartoons or a bit of the gospel channels i don't watch tv. Oh i forgot i'm always looking for soccer matches, old or current, to watch. if it's basketball season. i'll watch the the Heat game if it's on and i'm off from work. and i'll watch the dolphin games. that sums up tv for me. my favorite commercial right now is the Geico commercial with the little piggie screaming wee wee wee all the way home.
