I've searched for this, but it didn't come up with good results ( maybe the phrasing? ).. In the state of MA, if you get caught with the SR20DET engine under hood for whatever reason ( be it you got pulled over for something and the cop wanted to look under your hood because he was suspicious? ) what would happen? Would they take your car?

Thanks.

My girlfriend is a Mass state trooper.. Your not suppose to mod your car at all. Not sure how far the cop would go as far as making you pop your hood but if the car is lowered and looks to be modified, he can give you a ticket..

I can give you more info about everything if you want.

oh and BTW..your junkyards suck!!!

Well I got NH for junk yards

I've seen so many ricers around my high school and there is a police officer that is always supposed to be "on guard" at my high school. They're the usual EG civics that are slammed right to the ground... they never get ticketed or anything.

Things Ive learned while dating a cop...cops usually don't give a **** and actually a good amount of them don't remember every law and don't really want to waste their time pulling over some civic because it looks modified.

But be warned..there is this special group of officer's that pretty much look out for modified cars and its all they know.

As long as you just obey the important laws that everyone learns in drivers ed. you should be fine.. Do the swap

If I was you I wouldn't modify the exterior at all if you are going to do an illegal swap.

I'll bet you they could pull your registration if they wanted to. Just don't do anything to your car that will make it stand out.

Hmm... I really don't want to risk the chance of getting caught/ well I guess KA-T should be next on my thinking list.

Anyone know of someone who's been caught with an SR or RB anywhere in the US? I've also seen a flat black S14 around where I live, with a loud *** exhaust. Come to think of it, I don't see him anymore.

Does anyone have a thing on MA state car modification laws?

I can probably get you one. ill ask the girl when she gets home tonight.

Ive been pulled over numerous times when i had my s13 hatch with silvia front. and was sr powered. I never had a problem with them writing me tickets.. I mean yeah I got the usual exhaust ticket but nothing serious.

Ill see if i can find you those rules on MA cars.

If you lived in California I would tell you to be worried about it since cops are such d!ck there. I really don't think you will have any problem with it unless you go put a ricer exhaust on it.

Just leave everything you can stock and I really don't think you'll have any problem.

there are exhausts that will look stock and still give you the breathing room for a turbo. Just be prepared to not run a big angled can and paint any shiny fmic you may get. All of your gauges will need to be mounted low and maybe add a kill switch for the lights if you get pulled over at night so everything inside looks stock. don't get crazy and slam your car, keep the wheel choices simple and for God sake don't street race/drift. I think you would be fine if you don't act retarded.

The other option is to find out what the requirements are for people in your area with show cars. that maybe an out if you tell them that you are building a show car.

It's Mass, just keep a quiet exahust on it and you'll NEVER have any issues. They wouldn't know what to look for anyway.

Thanks for the info people. I guess as long as I don't attract attention to myself with a loud fart can I am O.K. Sneaky sneaky

What about body kits though? I'm not talking veilside kits where there's a lot of stuff going on, I'm talking about things like a K's wing for a S14 and a S15 front end conversion. As long as it's done cleanly they won't really notice ( hopefully ) right?

Keep stock looks, exhaust, and anything visual. Add an electric cutout in the downpipe and open it whenever you want for the added exhaust flow.
