What happens if my cam and timing chain breaks?

As I wrote in the title, I bought a car and the exhaust cam and upper timing chain are broken (KA24DE) do these engines have any issues with valve-piston clearance? I wanna know what happens to the bottom end. Thanks, Dante

interference motor, timing goes awry, valves slap pistons. badness. rebuild time.

Look for a new long block, your car will be on the road faster that way. Inspect timing set and water pump of new motor before throwing it in.

well, Once the head is all the way off (still workin on the chevelle) I will determine the shape of the pistons and cylinders so we'll see

Yup its an interference motor... I dont think any gasoline motors arent anymore
