I have heard that if you take off the leather by cutting the stitches on your 240sx shifter handle, that under it is a really nice plastic one once you clean all the gunk off, Is This TRUE??

if your shift boot is falling apart you should buy a new one, the stuff underneath is ghetto.

Are you talking about the leather on the knob itself? or the shift boot? If you are referring to the knob, i cut my worn leather off and had a black knob underneath that has the shift pattern on it. it actually looks pretty good (well, much better than crappy worn out leather).

MY brother did the same.

And yes, you get a nice polished black knob under your leather.
