I think this is a replacement for the Liberty (which is known in some areas as the Cherokee) and NOT a replacement for the big GRAND Cherokee. Kinda like in the late 90s when they were selling the smaller XJ Cherokee alongside the bigger ZJ Grand Cherokee. The Liberty was never very good looking.

As for the styling...you'd think Jeep would have learned their lesson with the widely-despised Compass. The Compass itself had its front fascia significantly redesigned from a Jukealike mess of fail to something closely resembling the current Grand Cherokee. Later Compasses look pretty decent if you ignore the goofy D-pillar.
Even though this Cherokee's headlights are a mess, I think it'd look fifty times better if they just got rid of the chrome trim around the lower grille opening. Then it would look less like a grimace and more like general weirdness.

Yikes. That is one UGLY front end. It looks like the Juke and an RL had a retarded baby.

I've looked at this thing a few times now and to be honest, I dig it. It may be ugly, but it's not like Jeeps were ever particularly good looking anyways. I'm curious to see what kind of options it offers first before saying no to it. It's definitely no uglier than a Juke.

Keep in mind that i'm currently on my 4th Jeep now, so i'm a little biased as well. I've only had one out of the four that didn't treat me well.

I think it's ugly but i also think the Juke is ugly. As well as the cross cabriolet. And the front end of the new murano :tisk:

This is Juke ugly to me. Where it's ugly, but it's so ugly that I like it because it has character. The Murano is just plain ugly.

If they offer some sort of "Trail Rated"(Mall Rated) package, I think it has promise to look pretty decent. It's still car based, but i'd consider one if the price were right. The Commander has been offroad a total of zero times in the 2 1/2 years we've owned it.

The thing that sucks about the Juke is that it's not ugly on the inside. It's actually quite cool and the base model with the manual trans is fun to drive. It's when you get out of it and look at the exterior of the damn thing that makes me cringe.
