i was practicing doing some drifts in a parking lot earlier. when i spun out at the end of one, the car started going backwards and killed. the engine wouldnt turn over for a minute or so. finally it started a little but sounded horribl, like it was about to die, until i feathered the gas a little. then it sounded fine but, smelled like it was running extremely rich until i got out of the parking lot. its running fine now but, im wondering what happened to cause this?

you flooded the engine.

the sudden stop caused too much gas in the combustion chamber, wich likley fouled your plugs. you needed to burn all the **** out.

FYI, there is a technique in racing called "both feet in" when you loose complete control you stab the brake and clutch, this prevents the engine from stalling. turning the engine backwards can cause some serious damage to the engine but if you are running fine now i wouldnt worry.

also, keep it on the track.

yea, they teach u that in autox..."if in a spin, both feet in".also cars have a safety thing ,i guess u can call that safety, but it will stall if it rolls back. or something along that line.
