k guys, im really confused about this one.

doesnt it seem like my engine is sitting WAY too high? before i pulled it, it sat fine, everything fit, hood closed, etc. etc.

i did change one thing, i made my own solid motor mounts out of 3" square tubing, drilled holes, welded bolts, etc etc.

this picture is with them installed right now (notice how high the cam cover is compared to the hood pins)

i did make some 2.75" square tubing mounts once i realized how high it sat. but now if i install the smaller ones, the oil pan is going to rub/hit against the front sway bar.

what did i do wrong? :gotme (and please no stupid answers)

P.S.

should i just slip the oil pan behind the sway bar and be done with it?

thanks

Check you measurements:

Whatever mounts you were using before vs. your solid mounts

It looks like you moved the motor forward too much, then you had to compensate and went up????? GUESS....

i just checked. the mounts i have in there now are EXACTLY 3". my old mounts are 3" (pic)

and it seems like everything has moved forward now cuz my electric fans now hit my PS pump.

the drive shaft and everything is already bolted up and everything, there wasnt any problems when doing it, everything slipped in perfectly.

what else could it be?

Yeah I would check the front to back measurements.

I'd imagine the rubber ones would compress once the engines weight was on them ? just guessing. Probably is some flex in the trans mount as well?

yea i was thinking of the rubber flex thing as well. im going to throw the 2.75" in tomorrow and slide the oil pan behind the sway bar. who knows, might even have to go down to 2.5"

did you just do a bolt through the center type mount? As the factory mounts have offset mounting studs on both sides. The change will alter the front to back placement as well. hows your shifter in relation to the shifter hole in the console (centered)? That is a easy way in identifying the placement of your engine in respect to it's front to back movement.

it looks like its sitting high because there arnt any fenders on the car...i bet its lower than the fenders.

the shifter is almost centered, just sitting a bit forward. (pic will show)

and this is the height with the fender on the car.... (pretty close, didnt think of the fenders, good point there carl h)

and for the mounts... i drilled them in correlation to the studs on the old mount.

is the shifter too far forward???

(pics are still with the 3" motor mounts in, havnt gotten a chance to swap them out)

cut a giant hole in the bonnet so everyone can see ya RB up in there hahaha jokes :-)

id say (like others point out) that wen the weight of the engine goes on the rubber mounts theyll compress and sit the engine a little bit lower...no compression with a steel mount :) just my sugestion guys
