Well I ended up borrowing a Garmin Nuvi 250 from a friend, and after a week of using it I decided I needed a GPS too!

After about a week of searching Craigslist I managed to get a 2 month old TomTom GO 740 LIVE 4.3" GPS Navigation with LIVE Services for $70. It retails for $300 :yesnod http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6858194081

It's a great device and I love it! Highly recommended. Only downside there is a $10 a month fee to use the internet on it.

What are everyone else's experiences with their GPS?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 3000 (I think its a 3000)... its got a small hard drive in it so you can load MP3s and plug a cable into the auxillary out feature, so it will turn your music down when it gives you directions. The only time I ever use it is when there are a bunch of back-to-back directions given, like when driving through new york city.

Everything else about it sucks. Sometimes it will put me 20-30 miles away from my destination, and takes me on really back a** roads that are both longer distance and time wise. Driving back to my house from Nashville, it has me going down a highway, snaking along side it on side streets and continually has me cross the highway to other side streets. Makes no damn sense. Also doesn't tell me what local time is. It has bluetooth capability, but I don't own anything bluetooth.

I have Mio 168RS which is a pocket PC with built-in GPS. Bad thing is Mio does not support the map update on this old model.

GPA is accurate enough. Destinationas are usually within 200 feet. I used to come home almost right on my driveway when GPS says "you have arrived the destination...". Lately it is off by about 10 houses.

Im rocking a Pioneer AVIC-U310BT, the screen is removable but the antenna is hooked up to the main panel. Its good though because I can bring it inside and set destinations. I love it! My girlfriend just bought a garmin nuvi $250 and it has a lot of smart stuff on it..one for example, it reads your phonebook direct from your phone, whereas mine when I add a number I have to re-transfer my phone book. Those garmins are solid.

Pioneer AVIC-Z3 for me! The only bummer is that there aren't any maps for Mexico.

Microsoft Streets and Trips 2010 on my laptop. Normally I don't need a GPS to get around in the truck, but it's handy for long road trips.

GPS is imperative on the boat.

My first GPS was a Nuvi (it was the 900 or 990 or something, it was their flagship model) and I loved it. It had a pretty big screen and it had tons of options like bluetooth, TTS, traffic, etc. The only time it gave me incorrect directions was the first address I ever put it in, the building didn't actually exist but the Nuvi thought it did. It has been pretty spot-on since then, I update the maps every year (Torrents) so they're always fresh.

I moved onto the Pioneer AVIC-F900BT which was a nightmare at first. The software sucked and it barely worked. Pioneer released several software updates since then and I have since customized the interface. It's a great head unit and I love it.
