Hi guys,

And the saga continues... Green Q

Got the transmission rebuilt and after two trys. Now the car vibrates like h e l l beginning at 45 mph. Before the driveshaft was taken in and out twice---all was fine and smooth.

The transmission tech tried a fix and fiddled with the center support bearing---still vibs. His boss is going to pull the drive shaft today and check the rubber. I'm going to bring my spare driveshaft over just in case...

So what is going on?

Did the driveshaft (rubber) deteriorate from being taken in and out?Do they have the center support bearing in at a bad angle? If so how would they know it?--or--Could the support bearing have failed from having the shaft's weight on it as it lays on the shop floor? Its mostly rubber.

I ordered a new support bearing just in case.

Give me more ideas to pass to the techs.

Thanks,

PeterDid the

Over the past 10 years we have had horrible luck with local " EXPERT" transmission rebuilds..........every few years we are tempted to try some new guy who keeps pestering us.................HOPING they can get it right......WRONG.

Nothing beats the oem remanned for $1700 [exchanged].

The question is: Are the vibes coming from the driveshaft or the rebuilt trans?

I would hope that the problem is with the shaft. The stock unit is a complicated unit with rubber sandwiched between steel.

Did they mark the diff flange and shaft before removal? If the shaft is removed and reinstalled in another position, you could have vibrations. There is a procedure in the FSM that shows how to properly install the shaft.
