Replace any gaskets you pull. You don't want to have to go back in there ;)

Ok thank you. I dont think i need to replace any gaskets in the head it self. I just had them done by Z1 other then valve cover gaskets upper and lower intake gaskets along with my head gaskets. This time i will use new head bolts and hope to god my heads didnt get warped :ohno:

I heard the studs are a pain in the a** because of clearance on the head and when im replacing the head gaskets im not pulling the motor. It should be a little easier do to not having a egr valve and headers. I know it can be done

ARPs are overkill IMO unless you're going big power. Just get some new oem head studs. Get them from Z1 or another reputable company. Don't skimp on price by going with one of the cheap sites. This is something you don't want to do again. And make sure you torque them correctly according to the fsm.

Also, don't pray the heads are not warped, actually get them checked at a machine shop.... Then you can pray while they check them ;)

Supposedly you can actually reuse the lower intake to head gaskets because they are metal like the turbo gaskets. I would replace them though just because. OEM head bolts are ~$80 a set. Z1 has a diagram of the torque sequence and where the 2 short bolts go.

Ok thank you very much and just curious what would happen if the little bolts were not put in the right place

You would end up with 2 long bolts where the 2 short ones should be and they would be sticking up about an inch causing a leaking head gasket, overheating, etc. If you get a new set from Z1 the 2 short bolts are marked white on the top. The passenger side one is the frontmost bolt on the exhaust cam side. The driver side one is the backmost bolt on the intake cam side.

You can always check the heads your self with a straight edge and a feeler gauge. Its rather simple to do, wouldn't have to worry about taking it to a shop.
