I need to change the head gasket on my SR20DET. I already have a new head gasket, head bolts, exhaust and intake gaskets, as well as the valve cover seal. Does anyone know what other parts are nessecary to change the head gasket? .. any reconmendations would be much appriciated.. [the reason i don't want to get the full gasket kit is because i already have the main gaskets]

you'll need some rtv, for the valve cover gasket, a 24mm socket for the cams, a zip tie to hold the chain in place so you won't have to go through to adjust the timing chain, gasket scraper, exhaust and intake manifold gaskets (compatable with the 91 SE-R with the SR20DE), if you're going to replace all the gaskets under the valve cover, remember to replace the spark plug gaskets (sits between head and valve cover) and that should be it off the top of my head.

Oops you might need a new tensioner gasket. The tensioner will be engaged when removing the head. Dunno if you can reuse the gasket, but I wouldn't risk that. That's also compatable with the SR20DE from the 91 SE-R

I re used my tensioner gasket. Havent had any problems. If you can get ahold of one it would be wise to change it.
