I am just entering the world of racing and I was just wondering what any serious racers would suggest for the first mod to my 240SX?

that all depends on what type of racing you plan on doing

if you're serious, then the SR swap seems to be the way to go around here.

isn't there an endurance class for all stock vehicles? seems like i would start there if i was you. save your money for mods until you see if you can hang or not

Since you're driving a convertible, two of your major concerns are going to be weight and chassis stiffness. Get rid of anything that you don't need, a/c, interior, etc... Then, stiffen that thing up any way you can.

I live in florida so a/c would have to stay and I was going to add an Audi TT style roll bar over the headrest, mounting them into the middle column in the back between the two seats and the to where the back quarterwindow rolls up, and tear out the back seat and what not, what manufacture's products do you guys suggest?

I can't remember who makes it, but there's a brace that you can get that bolts to the sides of the footwells in the rear. Goes right behind the seat. How much money you can/will spend is a huge factor also. SR20 will also reduce weight, but you will be making up some of the reduction in stiffening.

Put your money into the driver. You will get a far higher return on the investment. Take every school you can and buy as much seat time as you can afford. A good driver makes average equipment sparkle, a poor driver makes outstanding equipment stink.

The only way to get to be a good driver is with seat time and instruction.

I've had an SCCA comp license since 1976 and I always go to at least one school every other year. They always find something I'm doing wrong.

I you are serious, that is how you will spend your money.

I'm going to go off the beaten path, and say your priority should be: Transmission.

Go custom, with adjustable gearing. That way, you can have an ultra close range transmission that you can change to accustom your powerband for every set of mods you install. It will cost alot, and labor will kill you, but it's worth it. Possibilities are endless once it's done.

:bowdown There's a large number of people on this board and a few others that I've been to, and Ninja is the first person I have seen that recognizes the need for a built transmission in a race car. Well, the first person I've seen say it anyway. Welcome ninja, you have arrived.

How much do customizable trannies cost. Like 20 thousand right? And also. How are the custom. Everytime you want to chnage something do you have to put in a new gear?
