What exhaust setup are you running?

Just spent a few hundred bucks on a GReddy setup but I hate the way it sounds. She sounds perfect at idle, but as soon as I pass 2k RPM it sounds like a 93 Civic on steelies :nono: I'm running 3" Greddy Mid-Pipes with MagnaFlow mufflers, but it's just too loud for my taste.

So, my question is, what setup do you have (or have heard) that sounds nice? Thinking about running 2.5" with an x-pipe.

3" straight pipes and the GReddy exhaust will sound rice tastic on an N/A. It sounds pretty good on a TT though. I loved my Borla setup for N/A. Nice, deep, a little on the loud side, but not overbearing, and no rasp.

My bad, just edited the post. I was posting for my brother, and I thought he was running straight pipes. What size pipes were you running on the Borla setup?

Stock 2.25". They also make a 2.5" for the TT, and it'll mate with the N/A exhaust with very little work. Anything more than 2.5" and you're just going to increase rasp without gaining performance (in some cases you may even lose performance due to lost backpressure.)

I'm running 2.5" test pipes, 2.5" resonated Hpipe and 2.5" axle back running through quad tip mufflers. Its loud, but sounds amazing. Not raspy, the resonated H-pipe is a good choice for the n/a to keep that rasp down.
Like Ace said, 2.5 is really the max you want to go on an n/a.

Might go with 2.5" pipes with an X pipe then. What does resonated mean?

Almost like a second muffler. http://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/des ... .26.20.239
Thats an example of a resonated H-pipe. (the section right after the cats, has those can looking things which are the resonators)

+1^ Resonators are just a little can shaped thing that quiets the exhaust down. You do want resonators otherwise an NA is going to be loud.

I'm currently running a full 3" stainless SZ system. 5 bolt expansion downpipes to open test pipes to a resonated x pipe to a quad round tip axle-back. I am hoping to hear it purr within the next month. I have heard a few YouTube bids of a similar set up and it sounds very nice and smooth! Very pricey system, but worth every penny!

Thanks for the link. Looking to get something of that nature, that was very helpful. I'll probably get a resonated x-pipe.

I just ordered 3" SZ downpipes and resonated testpipes. Because it's a 2+2, I had to go with the 3" B&B exhaust with quad oval tips (also resonated). I'm sure it will still be louder than what I have, but I want to keep it sleeper-ish as much as possible.

Be careful if you have a 2+2, most exhausts on the market will not fit it.

I've got a set of stillen pipes that I took from a parts car. And I love how they sound. No rice and really low. Fits the n/a perfectly.

Btw its not the s*** stillens with the freakin 90 degree angle in it.

I really dont suggest an xpipe on a n/a resonated or not as it just add's to the rasp these car's have already. Twin turbo's can run them fine cause the turbo's suppress alot of the noise.

The thing I find funny about this thread is people posting their TT exhaust setups for an N/A exhaust question. Cars are completely different, lol.

I'm running open cats on the TT with turndowns bolted on, and it still sounds friggin awesome.

Mines not NA but when I had it running I have the apexi super megaphone exhaust, not to be confused with hybrid megaphone. Good note, kind of quiet though. From what I've gathered its a rare system.

OP, I'd do a resonated H pipe and whatever mufflers your heart desires. 2.5".
